Problems coming out of the woodwork

Logging packs

I have had a report of the bobber caboose causing the sim to crash and the Shays not being able to load coal and water even after the upgrade. If you have any problems running these products please report them.

Hi
I get crashes when I try to check the box next to logging.
Looked at the assets under Brikits and found the following
All the flatcar and sleeper.bin files have 0kb's.
The Vulcan 2-4-2 bin file was 0kb.
UnInstalled and re installed still no luck.
I got the pack that included all the packs.
Any ideas.

I had exactly the same problem: 0 size files in flatcar and sleeper.

I un-installed all three packages using the normal package manager then deleted the logging directory under assets/britkits. Then I re-installed all three packages and it worked after that.

I seem to only have two minor problems:

For some reason when I touch the locomotive to select it (3 Trucker) it rocks on the track. I've gotten one derailment because of that.

The other is that the loco seems to be underpowered. It won't pull a set of 10 disconnects and the bobber up a 3.4% grade faster than 2 miles an hour.

IIRC, the shays had a top speed around 30 MPH but could pull the devil up a 4% grade. That was one of their reasons for being, the other was that they would run on rocking rolling trackage that would put a rigid frame loco on the ground.

I must admit that the engine physics is not my strong point. The 2 truck shay is based on the GWR pannier tank and the three truck up from that by a third. You can tweek the power yourself by editing the Shay_Simulation .bin file. The two figures you want are MaxPower and MaxForce (I think)

I am working on a scenario for Shays to work a logging operation out of Monarch on the Tennessee Pass route. I have some grades of 1 in 18 and an empty shay won't go up them. I modified the C to maxpower=2000, maxforce=60 and max speed=50. The B is set to 1500, 45, and 50. This works pretty well. I can now haul a load of 1 loaded lumber car, 2 loaded box cars, an old NP caboose and a couple of empty cars up a 1 in 18 slope at about 5 mph with one shay C leading and a B pushing.
If I get this modified to around 1926 with some changes in assets and textures I will see if the author will allow me to release this modified area, for free of course.

You will need to convert the bin file to xml format with serz.exe

I use RW_Tools for all of that kind of work. If you plan to modify Rail Works files I HIGHLY recommend Mike Simpson's tool!

Check this link and scroll down a little. http://msts.steam4me.net/Route_Riter/index.html#error There's a mention of this error there.

See if that helps.
