Steel works rolling stock released

Unread postby KCJones » Mon Aug 23, 2010 10:09 am

This set includes the following vehicles:-

Locomotives:-

EMD NW2 switcher used for general hauling around the steel works.
NW2 slug
This vehicle has no engine or cab. It does have electric motors on each of the wheel sets deriving its power from the NW" mother locomotive. This supplies extra traction to pull the heavy steel products and also acts as a safety spacer between the crew and the hot metal.

Cars:-

Slag cars. single and double pot types.
Loaded and empty. For taking the waste molten slag from the furnaces to the dumping area. (There are some awsome videos of this process on YouTube)

Hot metal car (torpedo type)
Loaded and empty. For moving molten metal from the furnace to other facilities.

Ladle car
Loaded and empty. as above but with a ladle

Ingot cars
ingot moulds empty, ingot moulds with hot metal, ingots (moulds removed) Flat car with no ingots or moulds.
Used to form ingots of metal and move them to the rolling mills etc.

Flat cars
Various cars with loads for internal delivery.
Empty, coil load, slab load, bar load

40ft Gondolas
Gondolas for external delivery of steel coils and inbound delivery of scrap metal
Empty, scrap, coils
Including the following roads:-
Santa Fe
Union Pacific
Bangor and Aroostook
Bessemer and Lake Erie
In house (No road markings)

Just a small selection to get you moving. As they are my "standard" 40ft gondola models so you can easely add you own road names by repainting and add the loads by editing the wagon bin(xml) files.

I got this set some time ago and enjoy it very much. I thank you Dick for all your great work. I recently got your 2 8 8 2 and am having some fun with that also. I have even featured your steel works set as part of my Ohio Steel scenario pack for Mr. Garber's Dover division. Keep up the fine work.
