Crashing

Unread postby steve_the_slim » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:34 pm

Railworks crashes whenever I try to load any of the Britkits diesels. In the scenario editor, clicking the box for "Alco" or "EMD" causes an immediate crash, and I can't load any scenarios with these locomotives. The rolling stock and steam locos all work fine. Here's the error I get with the diesels:

ERROR: not a serialized binary file.
FILE: ../API\core/cFxException.h
LINE: 113

Any idea what could be wrong?

I was getting that earlier trying to do anything with the E7, it was corrupting whatever scenario I placed it in for a bit - you will get that if the game tries to load a corrupted blueprint. Might want to try reinstalling, and/or open the bin files up in RWTools and writing them back out again.

Try running the "Verify Game Cache" tool at Steam and then re-install your Britkit package. Also click the "Clear Blueprint Cache" button on the Tools and Docs tab in your startup window (the panel with the ads; there are tabs up top). While this may sound simplistic, the majority of the time this will fix problems. Hope it helps; that's the only answer I can confidently offer.
