SW1200 Problem

Unread postby mikeg1250 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 10:15 am

I just downloaded the sw1200 kit-05 this morning and I'm having a couple of problems. When I use the TR5, I have a head light that is floating in mid-air about 20' out in front of the engine. Also, If I try to mate it with the caf, there is no couple on the caf and it just rolls away. Any ideas?

I didn't see that problem, but I downloaded the base kit for the SW1200 last night and the windows (and just the windows from what I can tell) have missing textures.

Looking at the picture above the cow and calf are designed be coupled tail to tail. Radiator grills at each end. The coupling between the two units is a permanent bar rather like a steam loco and its tender.

OK, so useing RW Tools (thanks to Mike for that short tutorial) I see these items are missing:

Checking: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\SW1200\BN-ms\Engine\PC-SW1200.bin
Missing Files:-
BritKits\EMD\Audio\RailNetwork\Coupling\Coupling.proxyxml
RailVehicles\Diesel\SW1200\Default\CabView\Textures\Cab_digits.bin
BritKits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\SW1200\Default\CabView\lights_front.ban
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\SD40 Cab Occlusion.bin
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\SD40 Cab Sound.bin

now... these files are really missing
BritKits\EMD\Audio\RailNetwork\Coupling\Coupling.proxyxml
BritKits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\SW1200\Default\CabView\lights_front.ban

I suspect this is just a bad path (nothing like it exists).
RailVehicles\Diesel\SW1200\Default\CabView\Textures\Cab_digits.bin

and these do exist
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\SD40 Cab Occlusion.bin
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40\Cab\SD40 Cab Sound.bin

What should I do next?

Update: I should have added that these missing files are coming up for the SW1200 BN 240. If I test the base kit (x-Sw1200) there are no missing files.

Okay looking just to the right of the calf you see the phantom headlight. After I posted the picture I noticed that I had the units set up in the wrong order, but there is still no drawbar between them and when you stop the calf just slams into the cow.

Also, should I be able to work the controls in the cab my clicking directly on the levers or is the only way to run the locomotive by using the HUD or the keyboard commands?

I have the same 'phantom headight' with the TR5. My solution was to edit the rear coupler data in the calf .bin file, setting it up with a standard knuckle coupler. once that's done, you can use the SW-1200 as the cow and it all works.

One of these days, I'll figure out how to reskin and edit the loco files to create the TR mismatched* set that switches the Terminal 4 docks in Portland OR.

*the calf for UP TR5 #430 was destroyed by a fire, and the cow for UP TR5 #426 was damaged beyond repair at the Henkel, OR hump yard when a runaway car collided with it. The unit that is used in Portland was comprised of these two leftovers, and is still working today.

I edited the TR5/TR5c set to use the default Kuju bar coupler. It works fine, but there is no associated graphic and the bar doesn't show. Apparently, EMD was a pioneer in the use of Invisium. !*roll-laugh*! I'd guess that the bar coupler would normally be used with steam locos and would be hidden so there was no graphic made.

Please Dick, where would I look to find and remove that phantom headlight? I reskinned a full set of SW1200s (SW1200, SW1200f, and the TR5 set) for the Hood River Railroad. I'd like to clean that little glitch up before I submit them to you for approval.

Thanks,
MM
