Stevens Pass Backdating Kit Released

Hello,

I have just released a little backdating kit for the Stevens Pass Route DLC.

What this does is add depots, station signs, train order signals, platform clutter and station markers to the route. This was all done in the scenario editor only, so the installed route remains completely unchanged.

You need a bit of knowledge of the inner workings of the scenarios, crucially their folder structure, and of course you must know how to build and edit your own scenarios if you want to use this.

Detailed instructions are available in the manual.

You can download the backdating kit on my website.

Below are a few screenshots of how it looks like in-game.

What a brilliant idea, Michael! You've opened a door to an entirely new concept in changing the era of any route, but only through scenarios. And, what is more, application of this kit or others like it yet to come will not be overwritten by cache verifications.

This is great!

I hope other routes can be done as well (Marias Pass comes to mind).... *!lol!* \

Then build a bridge route to link the two... *!greengrin!*

I was quite surprised when I found out that the method works. The scenario-based Scenery Tiles and even tracks.bin edits (in ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin) apparently do not depend on anything specific set in the scenarioproperties, which I really did not expect to be the case when I started this experiment.

LOL, I had thought about that too. Actually, it would have been easier as I have most of of the models already from my old MSTS route, but then I like Stevens Pass better. A similar treatment for Marias Pass is still on my own wishlist too though.

Wouldn't that be a dream! Sandpoint, Spokane, the Columbia River. There was a forum thread about a WIP Spokane route at trainsim.com several years ago but this seems to have gotten abandoned. So... who here has too much free time? *!twisted!*

Cheers
Michael

The Stevens Pass ID is 93aab37f-606f-484b-8525-25dc457360f1.

To quickly find out any route's ID, you can use the tool "NameMyRoute.exe" from the main Railworks directory. RW_Tools' "Check Routes" function also gives you a list of all routes' names and IDs.

Yes everything is there. The D/L is only 4 megs so it doesn't take long.

It wasn't me! *!embar*! Sorry to hear you had trouble downloading the file, I just checked my website management tools and there weren't any indications of downtimes or other issues. Well, they probably wouldn't tell me about those anyway. Whatever it was, I'm glad it's working again.
