Looking good, will be ready to use it.

And for those that are wondering, he has mentioned over at TrainSim.com that this model will be freeware.

Here's the link by the way.

Some more slow progress of what will eventually become a phase-1 SD7 with two fuel tanks.
At least it exports okay, that was a major !*YAAA*! moment for me. This baby is beginning to reach the "polycount budget ceiling". *!twisted!*

Looking good, hopefully some more freeware locomotives will help in drawing in some more old msts users and possibly more creators.

If they don't I don't know what would draw them in.

Whoohoo!!! Surprise, surprise, it's almost done! Though that meant that I almost didn't sleep last night but I just didn't want to stop, so today was a nightmare of a day. **!!bang!!**

Anyway... the first model of the SD7 is almost done! Took me only over half a year or so. !!jabber!! The cabview is still missing, and I hate modeling cabviews, so maybe I'll do it like with the doodlebug and do a "dummy cab" first.

I decided to start the series with a phase 1 SD7 of the GN, and I'll do all versions of it that I can find. So there will be the early (as-delivered) version which you can see below, then there'll be the later model in Empire Builder scheme but with bay windows and winterization hatch, and I'll do the other paint schemes including BN too. As these are GN EMDs they run long hood forward.

Cheers,
Michael

My I order one with DB and a search light?

Actually I can add the light myself, but the DB would better if it were made as part of the model.

Would it be possible to alias your cabview to the GP9? If I remember correctly, they were pretty similar.

Hi,

harryadkins wrote:Would it be possible to alias your cabview to the GP9? If I remember correctly, they were pretty similar.

Maybe. That depends on what parts of the GP9 model are part of the cab, and what parts belong to the main model. If the hoods are part of the actual cabview shape file it might not really work - or rather, look odd. Also there may be some naming differences with the animated parts which could cause problems. However, for this first model this won't work anyway as my SD7 is long hood forward and unfortunately all of the RSC Geeps are short hood forward.

A model with DB will be part of the pack too. I haven't found out yet if any of the GN SD7 actually had DBs, my guess so far is that they only got it for the SD9, but in any case as the DB will be a child object for the roof I can add it anyway. Actually, I borrowed the whole child objects idea from Dick C. so the SD7 should be easy to modify. The model in the screenshots above has child objects for hand rails, headlights, roof parts, and cab window parts.

Michael

I would say it would be best to not allaise the cab view to the gp9 since it's payware and not everyone has it. If he wanted to though he could allaise it to the gp7 though, but I believe Micheal will build a cab, even if it be very basic for a while, it will still be better then nothing.

By the way, the model is looking great. Love the paint scheme.
