OK new contest, bet you guys are getting tired of doing this huh?? This one is for the USATC Multi National S160 Steam Locomotive. DTG released this June 7th.

The theme will be as follows:

the screen shot has to be in the time frame looking like it is 1942 to 1946 the time when these locomotives were produced. Any route any rolling stock but the scene needs to look as much as possible like it was from that time frame so use appropriate rolling stock.

Rules besides no comments allowed until contest ends:

3. Read them description above for routes and trains allowed
4. I am going to give you a week on this one to get your shot together, contest will end June 15th, 2016 at 10 pm EST.

While the world was at war, there were still people at home needing travel, and on the west coast the Southern Pacific took the people up and down the gold coast in style and comfort, allowing the travelers to feel safe in this time of hate and destruction.

Spring of 1945, with the war in Europe about to end but the war in the Pacific still raging one of Union Pacific's FEF-3's (ironically the later to be well known 844) got assigned to take a high priority freight from the western prairies consisting of mainly M4A2 tanks destined to support troops landing on axis controlled islands.

June first 1946 on the Horseshoe Curve, the time of passenger service is slowly coming to an end and in a couple years it would stop for good mostly.

During WWII, Britain's railways were under frequent attack from the Luftwaffe. It is 1943, and a train of Howitzers on the Somerset & Dorset has taken a hit from a German fighter. The train will have to get to Midford quickly and leave the smouldering wagon in a siding.

RWA #8 Leads a Small local on the RWA. It is October 23rd, 1942 and World War two is in full swing.


Riverside Waterton & Atlantic #8: was built in June 1942 by the American Locomotive Company. She served on the RWA until 1963, when she was sold to Seattle Steel. She worked at Seattle Steel until her engine blew a Oh-ring on September 10th 1998. She was scrapped the following year in Tacoma Washington.

290560 NYC Wood Boxcar: Was hauling wood Products this day. It would get shipped off on the LS&W to Chicago, then on the NYC to New york where the wood contents were shipped of to Britain in the war effort. The wood in this car was used to help produce a De Havilland Mosquito!

75187 B&M Steel 40ft Boxcar: Was hauling Brass Shell Casings to the Illinois State Armory for Preperations to be loaded and sent to troops in the Pacific. 75187 survived the war but was lost in a derailment on the Santa Fe on June 4th, 1953.

370280 MILW 55T Coal Hopper: Was hauling coal destined for the S.S Rosecastle, a Oreship that was docked at the Waterton Ore Docks for a full load of Ore. The coal in this very car was sent to the bottom on November 2nd, 1942 when German U-518 Sunk the Rosecastle and P.L.M 27. With a combined loss of 69 Lives. The Roscastle (and P.L.M 27) were one of the few Wartime Sinkings to fall under losses in the American Theater In World War two. 370280 Survived the war and was scrapped in December of 1974.

RWA X123: Standard Wooden Caboose. This caboose was built on May 3rd, 1938 for the Riverside Waterton & Atlantic and survived the war. Today this caboose is a piece at the Waterton Rail Museum and Historical Society!

Sorry for the long post but i didn't see a rule on "keep it short" and this contest just so happens to be in my two favorite times of things i like: Wartime History and Wartime Railroad History. 95% of the Cargo load and Final Destination is Made up, EXCEPT For the S.S Rosecastle. The Rosecastle was Actually Sunk in Newfoundland by the German U-Boat U-518 on the 2nd Of November along with P.L.M 27. Link to American Theater (World War Two)

Union Pacific 3943 arrives as priority Southern Pacific 4282 passes with munitions for the Pacific theater.

A long time ago...in a land far far away (from me) a daily occurrence at the end of the day...

It's a blistering hot day in the summer of 1944, and with D-Day having not long ago passed, emergency supplies are being rushed from Johnstown east towards Altoona and to points further east.
