Old Style Gas Station

So does anybody have one? Preferrably something around the 1910-1940's era all of my routes are missing them so I figured it was about time to see if there were any laying around :D

Back in the days when even gas pumps were a thing of beauty!

I am no builder at all. Just an end-user an admirer and a complainer *!!wink!!* , but wouldn't it be possible to use/import models (tons of them are available for free) from other games ?

There is a huge community out there and many people are making great models for all kinds of sims and games, it does not make sense you guys and girls have to invent the wheel over and over again.

Thats pretty cool!

but I was hoping to get some scenery models for Railworks *!rolleyes!* :D

As for importing them from other games, I can't even use Microsoft Word very well let alone trying to use codes or whatever it is that you hav to do to do that.

Importing a shape file can save you some modeling time.
However you need to get the original author's permission, and possibly the shape files themselves.

If you have 3DCanvas Pro, and the original MSTS source files from models created in Train Sim Modeler or 3DC, you can convert them to RW, but with TSM the import isn't always the best. Depending on how the model was originally created, and texturing doesn't always import right, again - depending on how the original was done.

You do need the original source files though. DST files for TSM models.
I believe converting engines doesn't work very well though, if at all.

You might send a PM to "jpetersjr" he's great at modeling buildings, give him enough photos, I think he can model just about anything.

The images of the 3D models I attached to my previous post came from a website with a huge database containing free 3D models which are available for download.

if they are max files not hard to get in the sim at all, however the textures have to be the right size and format, and then you have to rename alot of parts, not too difficult

Saw this on the free 3D site. Would this be hard to get up and running for RW?
I'm clueless to the procedure.

If you want I might try to get it into the game as freeware, but what did the site say about how this model can be used in the game.

I've never built a locomotive before, but I figure I could use this as a learning tool. Also, what kind of locomotive is this so I could try to find cab pictures for the 3d cab.

There was recently an old 30's-40's petrol (gas) station released over on the UK site. Not sure how useable it might be - could be too 'Pommie"
