Signals

Unread postby SCLALINE » Sun Mar 25, 2012 2:54 pm

needed a diversion, so i took SMMDigitals tutorial and with the help and the Rivet Counting of Jovet - i needed some US&S R-2's that Jerry had not included, instead of asking this busy man to make more, i rolled my own, and trust me Jovet is the king of signal rivet counters.

the models are in the asset editor just fine and are bright, now to get them in the Sim.

well the model is in the sim, im using the SMM's R-2 scripts but i have something wrong, placement works fine but its not reading the scripts or i did something wrong, so i am going over my work to get it to actually work, the aspect shows Yellow and Green and it doesnt have that "glow" from far away

ill let you know if it was easy once i get it working

I think you may have this by now, but here is a shot for future reference.

The x_xxxx_color1a part when you get to LOD level 6 is a solid shape behind the lens to help it show up against the sky.

One other thing, we had discussed using TrainEmissiveGlow shader instead of TEX on these lights? It comes down to personal preference, but that shader looks good close in, but it seems to cause a lot of flickering at medium distances

thanks very very much,

i got it working, but one word of warning i forgot LODs have to have their pivots perfectly lined up or its a no go, doh

also i would use trainemissiveglow on a lens attached to the first LOD which would give the glow of the light up close, and use tex for the Discs, im playing with that today

now im not trying to outdo SMM, but as i said i needed some specific signals to satisfy my rivet counting on the route, so this is more of an enhancement
