.WAD files

Unread postby ForceGhost » Sun Dec 22, 2019 11:30 pm

I know this does not apply to Train Simulator, but you folks are pretty good at nodding textures and such, so I am asking if someone has done this for other games.

I have a .WAD file that I want to open and modify. This is a Half-Life 1 Texture Package file. I've tried several programs but none seem to be able to handle it. Have any of you seen or modified these files?

I don't know if this will help or not but .WAD files were used in Doom. There was an old Doom utility that we used that could open those but I don't remember there being any graphics tied to them. I'll see if I can find the utility in my file archives but I doubt it. I haven't played Doom in years so I probably trashed all those files.

Took a while to get back around to this.

Yeah, I use Google all the time, and if it gave me the answers I wanted, I would not have to ask here, right?

WALLY , and several other recommended modifiers, do not work on this file. It gives an error every time that I try to use it to open the file, anything from saying it is not the proper type of file to there are no textures contained within the file. Just FYI, this may be an updated version of .WAD, as it is used by a current video game, and is not an old Quake Engine file.

Next up to try is Dragon Unpacker. I think that is the one that I used to extract the texture files from TSW.
