Roads

Is there a way to adjust the height of the ribbon used for roads with traffic? I got cars going across tracks with 1/4 of the wheels buried in the track and rail crossing sections. I have tried adjusting overall height of road sections with mixed results.

Thanks.

Can't you adjust the height of the traffic ribbon?

The traffic ribbon is part of the road section. It's not separate. If that ribbon can be adjusted I don't know how to do it. I gather that info is within the bin file. Looking at that file, I don't see anything that suggest the height of the ribbon....I'll have to just study it some more, make a bkup and experiment perhaps.

There are several ways to do this it depends on what outcome you want. If you don't care that much for accuracy, then just create new nodes using the Gradient Tool before and after the tracks on the road loft and adjust the height of the road so the wheels are at the height you would like over the tracks. You may have to make the adjustment several times, and it may be better than having the wheels sunk down in the rails. Another way is to use two separate road lofts one for the road and one for the traffic. Same idea, but much trickier to handle when adjusting things. This is usually the preferred method when using grade crossing plates with roads.
