Making terrain in Railworks

Hi, I am just getting into railworks and I want to make a real world route. I have a 1m contour SHP (shapefile) that I want to use for elevation data. I have loaded the SHP into Global Mapper and converted it to 3D but nowhere is there an option of exporting as a hgt file. I understand I can export it to a BILand rename it though.

But, when I copy the hgt file into the SRTM folder and press T' in railworks nothing happens (I'm in the right world location)
Is there a resolution limit or data in Railworks? What projection should it be in? I have it in lat/long WGS 84
Any help appreciated.

Nick

Depending on the location, SRTM data can be off lat/lon by a few miles at their edges. Other than that, you could try ReDem, as it's faster than surfing the route using the 'T' key, plus gives a bit more control on where you want the tiles to be generated.

Chris - You already have this discussion going on in another thread - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2865 - so I'm locking this one.
