Enormous Objects with Blender

Unread postby simer4 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 5:40 pm

Okay, so, I am following instructions to get an object (a loft actually) into the game. I save the file as a .3ds file, then open it into Blender 1.49 with UNCONSTRAINED scaling, as in, where is asks to limit the scale (default is 10), I put in a 0 to disable the scale limit. Then, I map the textures, assign shaders, and then export the loft. Now, here is where things go ary. I send the model through the Blueprint editor, no problems, but then, once in the game, I lay the loft, and bam, the thing is 4.75x the size it's supposed to be, which is like, 140ft wide, it ends up being around 670ft in game! And before you say anything, because I am supposed to export it as a .dae file, that doesn't work, it just fails, and tells me to look at the console. Any help from someone who knows Sketchup to Blender to Railworks, would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so, I have found a work-around of this problem. Since Blender 1.49b isn't letting me import .dae files, I imported the .dae file into Blender 2.69, then exported it to 1.49b for export, and lone-behold, it's properly scaled! Awesome! You guys can expect some interesting scenery items not too long from now!

I look forward to seeing your creations. I can think of many loft objects we can use in this sim.
