Johatan,

Once you have mapped your original model with various textures (as you have done on the R.V.) and know where each detail of individual texture is located, I should not have any problem repainting. However, may I suggest to map at a 1024X1024 format DTX3 (DDS) :
1. with as many few transparency as possible (no need for a semi-trailer).
2. Please avoid decal as they are difficult to move around on a surface and its size does not change.
3. remember there are a minimum of 4 individual surfaces, each independant (front, side 1, side 2 and rear) - each able to have readable small text , thus
1024x1024 format is best.
4. If you are willing to share, supply a texture template to guide anyone not familiar with various zones of your 3D model.

I may have missed something but its the most important issues that I usually come across - as in computer programming, think always modular thus easier recycling (similar concept of layers in Photoshop), and re-use.

Your cabs are awesome - pure brutes. May I suggest that you darken the truck tires. Most rubber tires are charcoal black and under a wheel well they sould appear darker.

A golden rule of design is contrast. Here your tires are so light (thus highly contrasting) that your eyes are attracted to that area, but the cab is where the attention should be drawned; unless you are a rep for Goodyear !*YAAA*!

Litlle change will have a big impact; you're doing well !!howdy!!

Might look for a better tire texture, of course they're also very basic, no letters or no details.

I tried almost all of those, but I never could get them to look just right, so for now I'm going to leave them plain.

For QcRails request for a 60's / 70's fuel truck, I found this cab over Kenworth fuel truck. Looks late 70's to early 80's timeframe.

Also found this cab over Chevron fuel truck, although it looks like it's more from the mid to late 80's. I remember seeing these things all over Southern California when I was growing up.

Finally, found this PIE Peterbilt tank truck. Guessing it's from the 60's.

Already did the Freightliner cabover.

I'll have to ask Buzz if he'd want one of those Kenworth cabover's for the route, since there's a possibility that it's really too old for the route.

Thanks for the research. All 3 are interesting period tankers; and all 3 are tank platform on a truck chassis pulling a shorty tank trailer.

I was thinking more in line of a semi-tank trailer that could serve with your already produced cabs or that could be loaded as a TOFC. I have come across a few photos but did not search far as I more focused with various dry van schemes (... and there is an endless list available !*hp*! )

Al least the question is raised and I would be interested by other train-simmers. Of your 3 expl. I have a preference with the Chevron type; seems more versatile.

Thanks, QcRail
