*Cough* Blender does that *Cough* It's called shadow baking.

Yeah, these youngin whipper snappers... !*roll-laugh*!

Honestly I'm looking forward to the Blender stuff. I tried, it looks so complicated. I'm sure Alex will simplify it. He's probably working on his class materials as we speak! *!!wink!!*

Sorry Rich, I missed this after the pushed onto page 3 saga with Bob from Christian.... !*roll-laugh*! .. !**duh*!!
A saying we use around my area as to being slow and can't keep up...guess, like the leg and body chain the hard and bad criminals have on and drag along when they are transported or appear in court...kinda limits your moving ability, ..etc.

Cheers.

Thanks Derek, appreciate it! !!*ok*!!

@Gordon - Oh, the old ball and chain routine, I gotcha now. !!*ok*!!

There's a lot of you guys wth version 8, am I the only one with 7? If so, I'll change the pic to v8.

And I think we're STILL up to F!!! I think there's a Marine amongst us. Don't make me get him to conduct boot camp exercises in here! Let's get on with this! I'm startin' to feel like Mr. Kotter. Oh, welcome back everybody. *!!wink!!*

For anybody not familiar with the Mr. Kotter reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVS3WNt7yRU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMddLh2Z ... re=related

rgarber wrote:Christian, I think what your refering to is you like the look of the textures. That part really isn't hard at all. That's something I could show you in a couple of minutes. You just make use of layers and use lighting variances to blend the different layers together. I use soft light a lot. Even a little experimenting will yield great results. Remind me about this sometime and I'll show you guys what I mean. The difference is like the difference between painting with a paint brush and painting with an air brush. So easy too.

Rich

@Rich
It's exactly what I meant! I have always been impressed with textures that looked good. Mine, for the few objects I have made in Gmax, looked fairly plain and, well... "dead"!!! Yours, are full of life and I certainly would like it if we could discuss how you do it one day!

On a side note, I'm really eager to start building in 3DC... using Sketchup for now... and I just hope I'll be able to skin all those building in 3DC that I'll have to import otherwise, all this work will go down the toilet!!! !*hp*!

Oh, good grief, Rich, did you have to go that far back into the "Way Back Machine"? !*hp*! "Welcome Back Kotter" !*salute*!

F - Scene Hirarchy Panel
Shows a list of all your used objects and their group relationship. If you lost something in the 3D view here's a good place to look for it. By right clicking on any object you can change it's properties, make new object groups and assign an object to one.

Houston I think we have a problem.

Here is my toolbar in version 8.2

mytoolbarin8-2.jpg

Mine stretches all the way across and has completely different icons. After the XYZ it is all different. The toolbar down the right side looks similar, but not quite.

Edit: It goes all the way across because I am only in 1024x768 mode. Easier on my eyes.
