Chacal, those arches are about 12ft across. I don't think texturing will do it justice.

However...

You can LOD the parts so that from a great distance you can use a flat texture to replace the arches.

I still say, get them in game and see. I think they will be just fine (especially when in the cab).

OK Papa,

I'm an old Max user. Unfortunetly I can't get the plugins to work on my version max (6). So I exported a 3ds and imported it into 3dCrafter Pro. Now how i nthe hell can I selct all the faces to paint them or do I really have to paint ever single face?

EDIT: Found it never mind

Ok I got it in game, and it seems to be working ok. I need to add the rest of the sets and load in some more clutter then give it a go. I'll do that tomorow. What a pain in the *** it is getting those section to line up right. I'll try a full length one tomorow.

Looks great.

You might need a better cement texture though. Try this and change it to 25 diffuse and 1 ambient. 0 Translucent and 0 Specular in 3D Crafter Pro for the texturing. Also don't forget to change this Jpeg into a Bmp in Paint.

It could be underground or... it could be invisible. What shader did you use? What LOD did you give it? What LOD do you have set in your game?

Papa,

Checked under ground, I've tried a few shaders TextDiff, and that TrainBasicObjectDiffuse, I think that what broke it.

hmmmmmm or maybe not, it could be one other thing, what the max distance you can give a object. It's got 4 places so I was thinking it could take up to......... oh I don't know lets pick a wild number of, oh, lets say 9000....... Game is maxed out on everything.

OK, so use TrainBasicObjectDiffuse (this is recommended by RSC), on the texture make sure your Alpha is about 15% bright (dark gray) and (speaking from 3DC not 3DS) you need to assign a dummy 16x16px black bmp texture in the environment slot.

What are you using to convert your textures to ACE files?

See if any of my tutorials can help you. Just remember they are from a 3DC point of view.

Ok gents, it's in game. One model @ 12000 faces so far. Just some little detail work, add some textures and it's done. Getting Max working was a huge step forward for me. Anyone need a copy of 3dCafter, cheap? *!rolleyes!* Never could get my head wrapped around that program. LOL. I spent most of today rebuilding the bridge from scratch, save about 13000 polys so far. Now I need to build it's little brother the Martin's Creek Viaduct.

It's looking great, perhaps later you could also build some 50's cars. Never was able to wrap my hands around building them, perhaps someone else might have better luck then I did.

There are, but they're payware, the community needs some freeware cars they could use on their routes that wouldn't require someone that can't afford to buy a route to have to buy one.
