RS.com is developing a new traverser. Seems to be a British one.

So this is like a modern day turntable, but it moves back and forth to get the engines out of their sheds and onto the outgoing track. Pretty cool idea actually. Altho, I do love the old style roundhouses. !!*ok*!!

Not that modern an idea - the traverser outside the A Shop at the Swindon works of the Great Western Railway (UK) came into use in 1920.

My railway photos are back - you can access them from this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21667a . Lots of UK steam and early diesels from the late 1950s and early 1960s.
