2d trees

Unread postby SAR704 » Sun Feb 01, 2015 9:13 pm

After exporting some trees into TS, I noticed that due to the shadows in this game, they seem to look worse than the ones displayed in MSTS.

Is there a better way to display 2d trees without having to go through the arduous task of making them fully 3d? My models currently have 4 faces (rectangle at 90 degrees crossing through each other in the centre).

However, when the sun is shining on them, they look very light, but at another angle, they look terrible. Is there a setting in the blueprint one can adjust to prevent them from looking bad?

I'm not an expert on this, but I believe the 2d trees and other flora use a shader that keeps the object facing the cameras.
It's something about an in cab view in the name. Although it seems to apply to all camera views.

Most (if not all) shaders can be made view-facing (limited to detached polys), but ViewFacingFlora.fx is what works best for 2D trees.. :D
Cheers!

Thanks Marc.
That "ViewFacingFlora.fx" is the one I was trying to think of.
