For over a year now, Bob Jones and I have been working together on a route project for Railworks: the Virtual New Haven Railroad (VNHRR). The route is based on the area around Springfield, Massachusetts, in the 1950s -- when that town was a major passenger and freight station of the B&A, B&M and NH railroads.
The idea behind the VNHRR dates back many years ago, when Bob started it as a route project for MSTS. Route building in MSTS did usually take quite long in comparison to RW, so this project was never completed. Similarly, I had been working on a Boston region route, again with a B&A - B&M - NH theme. When RailWorks came along and allowed to speed up route building by months if not years, we decided to pool our efforts into a single project, which we decided should be the New Haven Springfield Line.
The first stage of the route will be the NH mainline from Springfield, MA, to Windsor Locks, CT, including the Suffield Spur to Suffield and Bradley International Airport.
I'm attaching some screenshots from the most recent build of the route below. There are many more images and additional information on the small blog we have created for our project: http://vnhrr.blogspot.com/
Cheers!
Michael
