Hi,

The first version of the VNHRR has just been released on our website:
http://vnhrr.golden-age-rails.com/index.html

In order to not keep you waiting any longer, we have decided to publish a pre-release version of the first phase of the VNHRR. It includes the complete route of version 1.0 (Springfield to Windsor Locks and the Suffield Branch), but an incomplete selection of rolling stock and scenarios. This pre-release version is being offered at a 20% discount over the regular retail price of version 1.0 ($19.99 instead of $24.99).

For more information, details and screenshots please visit the new VNHRR website:

So how many scenarios are planned for the completed version of the route?

Not sure yet so we can't give you a total number, but there will be plenty even on the 25-mile short version 1. The three scenarios that are included in 0.9 are a little preview of what 1.0 will mostly be about: switching and wayfreight, some mainline operations. The NH was a busy railroad back then, there is lots that can be done. When the route reaches Hartford in version 2 we will also begin to add passenger and mainline freight scenarios, and look into the possibility of extending scenarios from 1.0 to include the new trackage.

Cool - I am not a scenario creator so value for me is how much playability I can get as is. It looks phenomenal so I bought it. Can't wait to give it a run.

Excellent *!lol!* First thing I will do when I get home is whip out the plastic. Personally not too fussed about the scenerios as I would have to sub all diseasels with steam anyway :) Looks great and I am longing to explore the twin round houses and turntables etc. Just hoping some steam facilities made this build.

!*cheers*!

Well, true to my word, I did whip it out and am very happy. Thought I would treat myself and hit the rails extra early this morning to explore - 3.30am!! Looks wonderful, but I can not find any steam age assets. I know it was discussed some months back (the route being set in the transition years, with an emphasis on early diseasels) but I understood some steam facilities were going to make it in too; nothing fancy - coal, water and maybe some ash cleaning pits etc. If they are there I cant find them... !*hp*! Now all I need to do is find some time to enjoy it and unfortunately that cant be fixed with plastic *!lol!*

!*cheers*!

Finally had some time to explore the route. Bob and Michael has done a great job capturing that 50s era. !!*ok*!!

Bob, Michael. Just want to point out that there are some places along the mainline where vegetation is "airborne".

Back to the 50s I go !*cheers*!

Thanks again guys.

WOW!!! I just bought and downloaded the route and I have to say, it will quickly become one of my favorite routes. I grew up near this area and would travel to Hartford with my parents in the 1960s to visit with relatives. A quick trip (actually about two hours) in freeroam around Windsor Locks brought back memories. Do I see tobacco farms? Why yes, yes I do!:
Tobacco Fields in Widsor Locks Suffield Branch.jpg
That was a visual marker that we were approaching our destination when we saw the tobacco fields covered in cheesecloth. Very nice touch, and very accurate detail in the WL area.
Now I'm going to travel North towards Springfield and see what awaits around the next bend.
Very attractive (dare I say BEAUTIFUL?) route. Thanks for your hard work!
*!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!* !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!!

It is not listed that way and if it is there has been a massive amount of rework to the file structure.

The FA for this VNHRR route is not found in the DTM asset folder. It resides in the \Assets\VNHRR\Springfield\RailVehicles\Diesel\ALCoFA1 folder. But it looks a lot like Lord Mannu's design. Maybe he colaborated with the Development Team and released the FA design to them. Then again Michael may have built the FA from scratch. The RS3 is defintely Dick Cowan's Britkits with a beautiful NH repaint.
