I happened to run a new scenario for VNHRR today, which reminded me of some of the great features of this route, especially animated features such as roundhouse and engine shed doors and those amazing animated diesel fuel hoses. I wish DTG would take a long look at these bits of genius and adopt them -- with generous payments to their inventors.

!!howdy!!

This looks very nice.

i haven't been following the progress for a while.
I have purchased the route long ago, and I believe the v2 extension also.
Is my version still current?
What is the present situation? V3 is in the works?

Hi,

My understanding is that Ver 3 will be the all-encompasing completed route (unless of course the guys decide to lay in the other line from Springfield to Hartford !*roll-laugh*! - never say never) If you have a look back on the blog to Sept - Oct last year, there were some pics posted of the Cedar Hill yards and engine facilities in New Haven. The route has also been re-vegetated and the signalling has all been updated to a more proto operation. When it finally hits the market, it will be like a complete new route, and a steam friendlty one at that :D

Are you suggesting that VNHRR 3 will be an official Steam/DTG/RSC product? Honestly, I hope not.

Thanks for the kind words, Edwin. Version 2 is the latest version that is currently available. Progress towards V3 is going well, we are working on the scenery of the last city on our route (New Haven).

ozinoz wrote:My understanding is that Ver 3 will be the all-encompasing completed route

Grant has summed it up very nicely (thank you!). V3 is likely going to be the final "official" release of the route, it will inlcude the whole line from Springfield to New Haven and the features that Grant mentioned. Like with the V2 release last year, there will be another update offer for all who already have version 2 of the route and want to upgrade to V3.

Whatever comes after V3, if anything comes after it, will be in the form of optional extensions, spin-offs based on the VNHRR assets package, or whatever we can think of. However, right now I'm only sure about one thing to follow V3: a looong break! We've been working on this monster project on and off for about five years now. Whew.

Cheers

Five years after putting the first tracks on an empty tile on our route, scenery work has reached New Haven. !*hp*!
