Conrail1,

Believe it or not... just a couple days ago we were discussing the possibility of adding a 'Roger Williams Cab Car' after the initial releases.
It's almost a no brainer since the bulk of the unit is basically a re-cabbed RDC.

However, Michael and I are thinking/planning a transition to Blender in the foreseeable future. This will likely slowdown asset development until we get a grip on the software.

Meanwhile... here's a kwik snap of the units running the NH/NYC (even though they didn't do that in the real world).

I would sure rather see this thing out than adding more bells and whistles. I love everyone, well almost everyone, on the forum but people can keep asking for more and more and more until nothing gets finished. Kick it out there. We are waiting with credit cards warmed up. If you want to add more then introduce it later. It's good to always have something more to look forward to. !*salute*!

Does Cab occlusion really work?
I've done tests and got nothing.
It works only with EAX and I'm not sure if this is still supported.
The dev docs refer to an elusive EAX document. I have found other documents that explain the occlusion attributes and values, but nothing seems to work.

I can agree with buzz. It awesome that you two want to keep adding stuff to the route, and it will definitely become one of the bests because of that. Personally I'd finish up what you have going and release version two. Then after version two is out make a couple packs to addon to the route. I've got a little piece of plastic that can do wonders just waiting for this route! !*cheers*!

To me, it looks and sounds great, but what do I know? I imagine that the usual laments will pop up sooner or later.

Your video did remind me of two aspects of TS that have always bothered me: road vehicles that appear from and vanish into thin air while an outdoor camera is focused on them and that twilight zone just outside the doors of any passenger car or engine. Nothing can be done about either one, I guess, since they are universal in the simulator.

Regardless of that, the route extension and its rolling stock will be a very welcome addition.

Hi,

I think there's one thing we didn't express too clearly yet: the RDC will be a seperate, standalone add-on. It's just sailing under the VNH banner because it's the same people who are involved. The NH RDC Pack will be done soon and should be available within the next few weeks (unless an unforseen issue in testing throws us off track, which can always happen). RDCs 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be included in the NH pack, but as Bob already indicated, the Roger Williams will not (just building the new cab and nose might take months, and that's without any Blender experiments).

Meanwhile, work on the Springfield Line has been going on too, Bob has been producing more and more of the downtown & industrial buildings for Hartford while I was away putting the finishing touches to the RDCs. VNH-2 will still take a while and our pace varies, but overall it's progressing quite nicely.

**!!bang!!** Yeah... only noticed that after uploading the video. Too late! But maybe I can at least fix the spawner break in the game, now that I know it is there.

Hmm... not sure actually. Thanks for the hint! I thought I heard a slight difference, but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.

That's just as well, anyway, Michael. The Roger Williams set used an entirely different carbody from either phase of conventional RDC production. While it was essentially the same from the frame down, the carbody was essentially the same cross section as the low-floor lightweight set Budd had built for the Pennsy, and really should be regarded as a varient of the Pioneer III program, which ultimately resulted in the first Silverliner EMUs. If you decide to tackle this set at some point in the future, e-mail me for further details.

I thought you were planning on offering this as a stand alone. I like that and look forward to seeing it.

I suggest you do some testing before spending too much time on it.
The only thing that consistently works is having two sets of horn, bell and engine sounds, with types set as INSIDE or OUTSIDE.

Cheers! This was one of the pictures that 'started it all' for me, one of the very first images Bob sent me at the beginning of our route building alliance. !*salute*!

Progress on version 2 is going okay. A bit slower than originally planned (but then we didn't factor in the RDCs in that calculation). All in all, we're on track with v2 though. The rural scenery between WinLox and Hartford is almost complete, several of Hartford's key buildings exist too. The industrial and suburban parts of the city are still empty though, so that's where we'll be working on next.

Cheers

I will definitely buy this route! Looks like fun guys. Excellent work, but don't be surprised if you see an Espee repaint of that RDC, though...
