It can be done that way. Thats how I did the SD40 sound replacement pack. I don't know why Zane didn't do it this way to start with, nor update it to do so.

Anyone care to tell how the modification is made so that this works with all scenarios?

You have to change the .bin files in the F45s own audio folder to look at it, and change the F45s bin to look at the default. I've long since notified Zane, but he has yet to rectify the issue. I may personally post the files necessary here and on the web page, as well as the 40 series updates to include the newer locomotives too.

As dumb as it is to bump this, but are these sounds suitable for the DTM SD45 locomotives as they also feature the same 20-645E3 motor as the F45?

It would be nice for a step by step detailed instruction Including file names that need to be changed for dummies like me that would like to get this fixed

Yeah, I would prefer that the engine audio bin files are placed the the default loco's folders, just like how the 40 series sound pack aliases and most AP and SSS sound packs install.

45 update will come after the 40 series. Yes these can be used for the SD45s.

Glad it's updated; now what has to be supported are the DTM SD45s with their proper bells and whistles (I mean horns!).

I'm assuming this update will have new sound bin files that install to F45Pack01 to eliminate the need tick on MLWAudio.

I don't feel like messing with the SD45s right now... That requires me to rebuild the pack entirely to support opening windows and doors, which would warrant a SD45 pack, which wouldn't fall under a 'free update' to anyone..
