Hi,

Some new progress pictures. The VNH is coming along slowly but nicely. Two big gaps still remain though, downtown Springfield and Bradley Field airport. More news can be found on our blog: http://vnhrr.blogspot.com/

Is that a signal mast in the second to last picture?

micaelcorleone,
Same here. I have been following this route on and off for the past few months. New Haven is a very interesting railroad.

Hi,

Thanks!

The RDC is coming along pretty slowly. *!sad!* But it will get done.
And yes, that's a trackside signal bracket in the second to last screenshot above. There will be quite a lot of track infrastructure -- new track lofts, platforms, level crossings, signal bridges, signals, depots, bridges ...

Cheers,
Michael

Hi,

A little update, scenery work has now reached Bradley Field (Bradley Intl. Airport), which means that the basic work on phase 1 is nearing completion. Still lots of detail work to do though.

More news and pictures are as usual on our blog:

Amazing!
I love this time period and it seems that you are really successful in recreating it.

EDIT: Will play Frank Sinatra singing "Come fly with me..." now. :D

Nice pics, Michael.
I'm not so much into eastcoast lines, but New Haven had in its roster one locomotive that i like so much - ALCo DL109 :)

The DL's are among my favorites as well.
I hope to see some in the VNHRR... likely in a subsequent release.
We still have to work our way south to Hartford, Berlin, Meriden, Wallingford, Cedar Hill and New Haven.

BTW folks... thanx for all the great comments.

You are welcome, Bob :)

Man, wish I have the time and patience to make one. Yes I think about it sometimes, but with no skills DL109 is a killer for beginners, because rounded nose (even more curves and shapes than F or E units by EMD) isn't as easy as hood diesels. Big question for me is it's cab, I never seen a photo of cab interior. Second big question is how that beast sounds? I tried to find something on youtube, but no luck.
I like "uncle Google" and "aunt Wiki" because they know almost everything *!greengrin!* :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALCO_539T
so we just need good recording of one older ALCo switchers... and good sound designer, because DL had two prime movers. This and that, horn sound....and voi-la, here it is :)
Yep maybe sometime in the future will DL109 hit the RW rails and make the gold stripes shine in sunlight again :)

Hi,

Some quick updates from the last month's (slow!) progress. It's beginning to look like a real route though, so we're already closer to the end than the beginning now.

Image
Shade grown tobacco, once a big business in this part of Connecticut. You'll see plenty of these tented fields and tobacco barns along the tracks.

A new turntable (still WIP, it won't be floating when it's done)
