Seriously it's like you think people who make stuff owe you something. They 'owe' you nothing. Just because Tesla for instance wants 75K for a car doesn't mean you or I have to think it's worth that much because it doesn't look like a Bentley. In that case we just choose to not purchase it or in my case I might buy it and modify it to my taste. However in my opinion to bash someone or someones product because it doesn't look like YOU think it should look (by being very sarcastic or demeaning) is just plain rude and uncalled for.
To compare something that has a half dozen locomotives and a raft of scenarios for twenty five bucks to a single locomotive that costs forty dollars is is like comparing a hamburger to a T-Bone steak in a restaurant. Personally I like hamburgers a lot and if this particular offering which is being talked about was brought to the market for say two hundred dollars I would take a hard pass on it no matter how carefully it was crafted.
Additionally the ability to return the item if you don't care for it means my often said "If you don't like it don't buy it" doesn't even come into play anymore since you can turn it back.
The hobby would be way way better served by people raving about what they love on the SS or Smokebox stuff if that is the level of detail they crave than trashing everyone that doesn't go to that level of detail.
End of rant !!**sorry**!!

I will simply second the remarks of GreatNortherner above. Criticism, especially when constructive and specific, is welcome, listened to, and acted upon as feasible. Based on such civil feedback, we are in fact looking at a couple issues now. Hostility, denigrating comments, vulgarity, misstatements of fact, and "bombing" of products, is not and in fact results only in such comments being tuned out. In denigrating various products (which regularly then prove quite popular with the TS community) and often "shouting down" anyone who disagrees, the "trolls" are assigning themselves as the sole arbiters (judge and jury) and demanding that the entire community accept their definition of what is acceptable and enjoyable. I can assure you HIS will continue to strive to enhance both our existing and future products, but that process will be driven by constructive feedback and suggestions from our customers and the thoughtful community as a whole, not by the caustic commentary of a few.

And, as GreatNortherner stated, "And this is all I will say about this."

His movie is an hour long. Could only listen to 3 minutes.

I absolutely LOVE when my full response gets chopped down to what you want people to see. I think the point of being civil thrown out the window when buzz and artimrj made their smart remarks regarding schnauzahpowahz's video. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean to try to speak on behalf of them or anyone else, for what I say is from me and me only.

Also Buzz, it's almost like they make me pay for the content, and based off Gary's excessive use of adjectives on his Dovetail Live posts, I would assume they would give me the best quality for the item they are releasing. Yes, they do in fact owe me and everyone something, QUALITY. I don't owe them anything for barely trying. I mean when the side panels of the F3 dont even exist and are just flat lines, the bogies of the GP9 are just flat textures on something that is supposed to look remotely like a bogie, the GP9 is about a decade old, the sounds are terrible, the couplers on the F3 are pushed too far inward, the couplers are still having the same issue after YEARS of complaining, and the couplers aren't baked so they look completely out of place and like they haven't loaded in correctly, then someone has all the right to be upset about it.

Maybe if you actually addressed these problems instead of being petty and ignoring them because "tHeY bEiNg mEaN", then they would be fixed and your feelings wouldn't be hurt. I'll repeat what I said from my uncensored response hoping this part wont get censored out as well: If Darlan Gomes, Smokebox, Machine Rail, Diesel Workshop, Searchlight Simulations, G-Trax, and even DTG can do it, you guys can too. If the technology exists, you guys can use it. Censor that if you want to, but you know that I'm right.

HIS produces a good product of consistent quality, but there is always some time to improve the overall product on every release. There is a list of improvements that have been suggested over the years and in HIS's opinion they are not relevant.
You call them trolls, however they offer a viewpoint, positive, neutral, mixed or negative and simply dismissing them as a nuisance is not productive. I watch them, I don't agree with everything they say, I see some errors in their conclusions. Yes, there are rivet counters out there looking for obscure details that are wrong or missing.
I realize that there is only so much time to budget for a project. Several years ago I had an issue with a developers product. It would not run well on my computer so I received a refund and posted that on this forum. I was called a whiner, and things escalated and got ugly. I upgraded my system a few months later and purchased the product again and was happy with it.
As always, I vote with my wallet. If I see value in a product and I will purchase it. The quality in this hobby is improving, freeware routes from some of the hobby developers are simply beautiful, MInerman and Zawal are two. New locomotive releases from the newer developers that were previously mentioned are well done. The trend will continue, and to offer a better and improved product should be the goal.

Santa Fe Classic Pack 01 Update:

We are aware an issue exists with the brakes on the EMD F3 in the ATSF Retro Pack 01. The cause has already been identified (a software configuration error) and will be issuing a patch as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, for those of you who already have DTM's Union Pacific F3, there is a relatively simple "quick fix":

1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\HIS\ATSFPack01 and create a subfolder called RailVehicles\Diesel\F3\Warbonnet.

2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTM\F3 UP and open the file named F3 UPAssets.ap (this is, basically, a zipfile and there are several utilities that can open it, such as WinZip, WinRAR, 7zip, etc.). Extract RailVehicles\Diesel\F3_Engine_UP\EngineScript.out and place it in the Warbonnet folder you created in step 1.

While strenuous efforts are made prior to release of a product to ensure that everything works as it should, it's unfortunate that sometimes errors such as this escape the net. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for posting a "quick fix" instead of waiting for it to sift through the Steam bureaucracy and having to wait for days.

SANTA FE CLASSIC PACK 01 - Update

Today, an automatic update for SANTA FE CLASSIC PACK 01 was released via Steam. Key modifications included a fix to F-unit air braking (as mentioned above) and resolving an issue where the GP7 would on occasion cause a game freeze when used in QD.

So the DLC got updated,
but still no passengers behind those big windows?
still no night lighting of that wonderful interior with passengers?
still no taillights to properly mark the end-of-train?
still no El Capitan drumhead, a Santa Fe hallmark on every of its name trains?
still no brakehoses on the proper AAR Type F couplers?

The answer to the above questions is no? Then no incentive to buy this DLC at full price, nor to give it a positive review ...

So don't buy it. Problem solved.

Two points:

- It is remarkable that simply making a post, such as mine above to inform the RWA community of a Steam patch, is considered by some as just another chance to endlessly and repetitively troll.

- I find it telling (and quite illuminating of what is going on) that the Hi-Level cars, when introduced in the Amtrak SDP40F DLC, were praised and the pack received complementary and positive reviews in virtually all cases. Now, suddenly, less than two years later and in Santa Fe livery, they are totally "inadequate" according to some.
