The two recent Japanese routes are metre-gauge, as are the recent South African routes. Then there's Albula, and a couple of Gor's Spanish routes...

Nice try. Both countries use Cape Gauge, that is a 1.067m/3ft 6in gauge

However...

I doubt that the average digital gricer will find the 33.5 millimetre error in wheel placement on either side too distressing...

There are, after all, not a few aspects of our favourite sim that require a slight suspension of disbelief.

How are the sounds on these?

The GP18 uses the default GP9 pack sounds as far as I can tell but overall I'm still pleased with the quality.

Neither do I but Google Translate can make a reasonable attempt at it. Brasilian Portuguese is somewhat idiomatic but you'll get the gist of it.
