I was not thinking of having them drive on paved roads per se, but more of them driving alongside the tracks to a site of track (re-)construction.
Many routes have gravel or dirt roads parallel to the tracks or in place of a ripped up double track.
We have hydraulic excavators and other earth moving machinery. The Liebherr from Germany can even be driving over the rails.
Perhaps a track constuction site with some animations could be built with these assets.

The gravel pups are finished and part of the Tehachapi roue.

The grain trailer was sent off to Bob for testing and inclusion with one of his projects. :D

Several new trailers done and still a few yet to start. I'll post screens soon.
