Description

Genesis Crossing

This is an imaginary railroad set in the USA. Designed for operation it has reasonably long branch lines (17 miles one way, 13 the other), runs through mountain/wooded areas plus switching opportunities particularly in the yard, industrial park and cement plant. The concept was to enable the user to build their own scenarios, although there are some included using default, Donner Pass, Chicago - Aurora and Sherman Hill assets, utilising their favourite stock. It is a deliberate attempt at not being Big 7 specific and I used SP locos instead of the ubiquitous “Black” or UP. I run my own choice for me. At the end of the day as I used to say in my modelling days – “it's my railway and I'll run what I want” - well this one is now yours so run what you want.

The trackwork is by Barnez (Chicago – Aurora) so this is a must. I recommend to you the works of Great Northerner (Michael Stephan) (freeware) and “Britkits” (some freeware and some payware)

The “history”

Two separate railroads converged on Genesis creating a crossing just outside of town. The first to arrive (Genesis and Southern)was local aimed at the agricultural and logging interests and it created the yard. The other (Range and Eastern) was hoped to become part of a transcontinental and nearly 100 years later it did as both were absorbed by Southern Pacific. (It could easily be UP, BN, ATSF etc to suit your preferences. The aforesaid is a total load of baloney.

Legal Stuff

You can do whatever you wish except use this route and scenarios to make money, so no commercial use whatsoever. If you choose to use the route as a basis for development and subsequent publication (as freeware) please put in a line to the extent “based on Genesis Crossing by Mindenjohn” for example. I would be pleased to receive a copy of your work as it can only help me improve.

This route was built using the Route Editor in Train Simulator for Train Simulator however none of the following - Steam, DoveTailGames (in any and all of their guises), KUJU, Paul Revere, Uncle Tom Cobley or anyone else approved it nor did they commission it nor did they test it. I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong with your computer, or your life in general. I will accept that I might indirectly (if you get enthralled in the route) be responsible for your coffee going cold (sorry). I hope you enjoy my first publication.

John
