Flatcars loaded with the M1A2 Abrams tank model included, but not used in the DTG March TS Rewards, plus 4 QD consists using the flatcars

Description: M1A2 ABRAMS FLATCAR PACKAGE

Dovetail Games released a flatcar for the February Trains Simulator Rewards with three US military equipment loads: Humvees, a double M2 Bradley and recon armored cars (probably a RG-31). However DTG included the model for a very nice M1A2 Abrams tank that was left out from the default flatcars. The reason why they did not use it in a 4th load has not been communicated so far by the company.

I found it accidentally when I opened the bin for the Bradley tanks and saw that the child element was named as tank02. If there was tank #2 there could be a #1. So I looked into the vehicles subfolder and found one named as tank (Abrams).

The goal of this package then, is making available that tank to the TS2016 community.

The package includes:

1. Three flatcars additional to the four existing. with these loads:
1.1. 2 x M1A2 Abrams tank per flatcar (4)
1.2. 1 x M1A2 +1M2Bradley per flatcar (5)
1.3. 1 x M1A2 Abrams tank (centered) per flatcar (6)

2. Four Quick Drive consists (scenarios) to make the flatcars immediately available. They will be there for every one of the four Sherman Hill Union Pacific locomotives (one QD each). To make the QD I required to build and include six different consist fragments.

The flatcar loads are located in the Assets\DTG\FlatCarPack01\RailVehicles\Freight\Flatcar\Default
The Quick Drive consists are located in Assets\RSC\ShermanHill\Preload

When using the Custom Scenario Editor, browse Wagons by “flatcar” and look for names “[TSR] Flatcar Loaded n ” where n is 4, 5 or 6 for the new versions, as indicated in Contents 1 above. After the installation there will be a total of 7, including the empty flatcar.
In the Scenario Builder use the “Little Cube” selector to enable DTG - FlatCarPack01. In the “Rolling Stock” button, you will get the names as above.

If you wish you can also use any of those four vehicles either for scenery or for scenarios objects. They can be repainted as well.

Four new QD consists are available, one for every one of the UP locos, renamed as follows:

UP ES44AC (SH)
This is a very heavy train pulling 7,230 metric tons of rolling stock (plus 7 locos weight not included in the calculation).

UP SD70 (SH) A lighter but still very heavy train.

UPSD40-2 (SH) Yet shorter, it is not as light as you could think.

UP SW10 (SH) A short yard ops consist.

By using these QD consists in Sherman Hill, you will find them as well as AI consists. In some cases they are used annoyingly “excessively” by TS2016.

The locomotives have been renamed because TS2016 have them wrong, naming these four locos with one of the QD default consists.
While Sherman Hill is demanding with grades, what is a great run is taking the ES44AC consist from San Bernardino to Barstow and confront those 2.8-3% grades found before the summit in Cajon Pass.

The package includes the installation file M1A2Abrams.rwp.

To install it, open the Train Simulator Utilities.exe program located in your Railworks folder. Select the Package Manager tab and then press the Install button followed by pointing to the localization of the .rwp.

The installation does not alter any of the .ap pack files.
Since the Abrams model is already included in the flatcar folder, it is not required any GeoPcDx copying to other folders.
