EMD DD40X Enhancement Pack

Important: This enhancement pack requires the RSC DLC "DD40X Add-on Pack", available from the Steam DLC Store.

Features:
1) Modified: Headlights and Rear lights;
Tweaked: Strobe light and
Tail (Dim) lights (aka Step lights).
2) Added: Conductor.
3) Modified: Cab and Head out views.
4) Added trackside animated figures
4) Two free-roam scenarios on "Barstow to San Bernardino" Route:
"Show Case DD40X at day" and "at night" for you test and see the power of pack.

Important: Unzip "DD40XEnhancementV1.zip" to your usual downloads' folder, then follow the instructions. (Windows 7 use "Extract "here" or "Files"")

Unzipping or Extracting gives the following folders and file on your computer:
DD40X Normal
DD40X Extreme
DDX40 HFPS
DDX40 Restore Default
DDX40 Readme.txt

Installation:

A) "Normal pack" (250m headlight range):
1) Open the folder "DD40X Normal";
2) Execute (double click left mouse button) the file "RW_AssetSetup.exe".

It's done!

B) "Extreme pack" (500m headlight range):
1) Open the folder "DD40X EXTREME";
2) Execute (double click left mouse button) the file "RW_AssetSetup.exe".

C) "Higher FPS" pack
If you have a low/medium machine and usually getting low fps running TS2012 with TSX On, you can try the following version of the enhanced Lighting: "Higher FPS".

In this optional version, the light projected by headlight won't cast shadows, as the normal headlight does. When not casting shadows the performance of computer (with TSX On) tends to be the same than using the default headlights (casting shadows). With this optional version doesn't matter if you turn headlight on/off, your fps tends to be the same.
Note: Try the "normal pack" version first, and if your frame rates deteriorate or are lower than the "Higher FPS" version.

"Higher FPS":
1) Open the folder "DD40X HFPS";
2) Execute (double click left mouse button) the file "RW_AssetSetup.exe".

You are ready to go, with higher fps, though the loco will not be casting shadows. Important!

D) De-Installation:
To DE-INSTALL the pack, and restore the RSC DD40X default assets:
1) Open the folder "DD40X Restore Default";
2) Execute (double click left mouse button) the file "RW_AssetSetup.exe".

********** EXTRA INSTALLING NOTES **********

DETAILED INSTALLATION GUIDELINES.

In case you are not used to TS2012 installing add-ons and enhancements, here is a step by step guide:

1) Close TS2012 if it is running, (recommended as a precaution only).
2) Copy the file pack "DD40XEnhancementV1.zip" to your usual download/install folder or desktop.
3) Unzip (must be unzipped to install correctly in Windows 7 use "Extract All") the pack file.
Note: In Win 7 if you try to install when still zipped, you will receive a screen message warning you to unzip before running the RW_AssetSetup.Exe, otherwise it won't work effectively.
4) Unzipping creates 4 Folders and this "Readme.txt" file
DD40X Normal
DD40X Extreme
DDX40 HFPS
DDX40 Restore Default
DDX40 Readme.txt
5) Go to the "normal" (unzipped) folder "DD40X Normal".
6) Find and Execute (double click left mouse button) by left mouse double clicking the "RW_AssetSetup.exe" (Must be unzipped to work correctly).
7) This will display a screen with the path of your TS2012
(eg: "C:\Program Files (86)\steam\steamapps\common\railworks),
Check if the path is correct otherwise change it to your installed/default path using the "......." button at the side.
8) If the "Railworks" path is correct, click the button
"Install to Railworks".
This will open a MS-DOS "black" window stating that the blueprints packs are being deleted, and
Finally a screen saying "Your package has been installed",
Click OK to finish.
9) Launch the game (.NET 4.0) and "Start Train Simulator 2012" (no need to clear the Blueprint cache, but you can, if you want), and check the free-roam Show Case DDX40 by Machinist in the "Barstow to San Bernardino Route".

Extra SPECIAL MANUAL INSTALLATION GUIDELINES.

* Windows 7 has a feature to read the zipped files like if they were unzipped, but in fact they are still zipped.
* For example you can see ".pic" files, read documents (.doc(x)) files) etc., but you CANNOT run any sort of install *.exe file because it won't work.
* In fact, you will see the "RW_AssetSetup.exe" running with a successful message at the end, but the problem is that the pack wasn't installed correctly at all, because the exe file did not extract and copy the files into the \railworks folder.
* However, you can use the "Extract Files/Here" function(s) in Windows Explorer and this will UNZIP the files and allow a correct installation.

Some Windows versions (including Win 7) can only display a limited number of characters to be hold in the path name, and some install paths of game are long, and this may cause installation problems for a few users.

It has also been reported that some users are having problem to run some old versions of WinZip (for example) in Win 7. You should use Win Zip version 14 or later to avoid problems, or better still use win-7 zip.

If you are experiencing problems to install this pack, you can try these steps (ie, only if normal installation failed).

MANUAL INSTALLATION of the Enhancement pack:
1) Close TS2012 if it is running, (recommended as a precaution only.
2) Open our normal (unzipped) INSTALL folder "DD40X Normal".
3) Copy and paste the "railworks" sub-folder located in the "DDX40 Normal" folder into your "(....)\Steam\steamapps\common\" folder.
4) Launch the game (.NET 4.0) and "Start Train Simulator 2012" (no need to clear the blueprint cache, but you can, if you want), and check the free-roam DDX40 Show Case by Machinist in the "Castle Rock" Route.
