I don't. I've been kept out of the loop on the route's progress.
Cheers!

Thursday 02/08 - in depth look at new Sherman Hill route courtesy of Engine-Driver.com, including some new WIP pics...

I just hope it doesnt come out looking too modern and can be reasonably easily back aged for a more steam friendly feel...

!*cheers*!

One big difference is the actual location of Dale Junction. In the steam era it was just to the east of Dale Creek, and today it's closer to the Hermosa Tunnels.

I don't want them to rush it, and ESPECIALLY want Cheyenne as accurate as can be, but I hope by "in August" they don't mean August 31st at 11:59.59 PM

60 I believe was stated. This is the reason why having Cheyenne as accurate as possible would be a good central starting point for routes (legitly) East to North Platte/Counil Bluffs and south to Denver. This way, we could create accurate steam excursions on all 3 sides of Cheyenne and have 3 different line types (Heavy double/tripple track main line, single track south to Denver and multiple track mountainous line). I'm still pushing the overhauled Challenger, and soon the 844. I know I'm a big dreamer, but honestly, it can't be that hard to model mostly flat farmland terrain with elevators and towns popping up alongside the tracks (especially if you use already modeled assets and stuff like that) This (in my big dreams) has the potential to outshine and smother the epic fail that is the current longest route in Railworks otherwise known as Donner Pass *!rolleyes!* Why not model the magnificent enormity of the Union Pacific in this, it's 150th Birthday? !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!!

It's not how long it is, it's what you do with it that counts...

I can't disagree with you there.

However, the answer to your question -
Why not model the magnificent enormity of the Union Pacific

is, because it's enormous! *!!wink!!*

But the answer to your other question is yes. But the only way realistically that a route approaching one of that scale would be to build it as a group venture. You'd be amazed how long it takes to "model mostly flat farmland terrain with elevators and towns popping up alongside the tracks.

Here's what's currently and "prototypical" (I use that term lightly in some cases) modeled in Railworks (Red Lines). Have some work to do. !**duh*!!

I have to say that they did a very nice weathering job on the SW10 (but don't get me started on that beacon...).

Chessie8638 - that map is hilarious! !*lho*!

What's wrong with the beacon?

The same problem as the DP beacon, they make half the dome orange and spin it. In many cases these beacons had two hot spots (for lack of better term), also the light should be circular (almost tear drop) in shape, not just part of the dome. Take a look at how I did mine on these SW9's:
