Exceeding Daily bandwidth

Unread postby artimrj » Sun May 05, 2019 9:22 am

Got a warning from my host that our daily bandwidth is way to high. I assume it was from all the uploads I posted last week and the massive downloads of them. And the amount of new people registering and downloading the whole site. The Cascadian route and expansion may have something to do with it as well. Lately I notice as soon as I upload something it is being downloaded almost immediately. And that makes the system slow down while I am trying to post more. Not sure what to do about this as they are going to charge me $10 for 1 MB over the limit.

I am going to start only posting a few files per day to try to slow this down.

I wouldn't mind kickin' in a few to help on on occasion. I am sure others will if needed. Is there a donation only link?

If there isn’t there ought to be. I’ll make a donation alternately can I “ buy” RWA Lakeside more than once?

Answer is, yes you can buy it more than once, so I have. Hope this helps.

Bob, it looks to me like the graph shows you have way more traffic inbound than outbound (orange vs purple).
This sounds strange to me.
Also what is your limit?

I think it is the hackers trying to get in. A few days ago there was 2600 people online on the home page. The last 2 days I entered several hundred IPs to the IP blocker I have in CPANEL. They are trying to get into the forum. The forum has software installed to prevent them from getting in and puts their IP in a file.

Hi Bob: I have 2 new locos to download the SD40-2's in my latest videos. Do you need me to hold off for now, send 1 this week and the other next week. Let me know what's best for you and the bandwidth problem.

Thanks
Pete

Pete, go ahead and upload them. I am going to add things slowly so I can see what area is using the BW.

The only problem is in a month you're going to have a hundred new files stacked up.

in the last week I have entered 680 IPs to the IP Blocker in cpanel. I think I am getting rid of the hackers slowly but surely. Excuse my typing.
