Font scavenger hunts SUCK... A few times I had to highlight the text, click the font drop down and arrow key down through my list of hundreds and hundreds of fonts hoping to strike gold.

Usually went like

OMG THE N MATCHES!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH DARN IT BUT THE O ISN"T RIGHT!!

OMG THE O AND N MATCH!! AAAAAAAAAAAH DARN IT BUT THE R IS WRONG!
!*not-ok*!

Thats an old designers trick. Some trademarks-logo's actually use
2-3 different type styles (fonts).

For all you font scavengers out there, here's a nifty little utility that you might find useful, and it's free too. *!greengrin!*

http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php

Another little utility for reskinners and modelers from the same company.

http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/TileViewer.php

And something else that might be useful for font scavengers.

(now available in the File Library)
http://railworksamerica.com/FileLibrary ... -2011.html

Edit 1: BTW! You can use Font Viewer to view the 500 fonts in the above zip without installing them. You can also use Font Viewer to install any particular font.
There's two versions of Font Viewer. An exe and a zip. The zip is a stand alone exe and does not require installing into Windows. In other words, it can be used from an external drive, USB stick, etc.

Hi Guys,

The others have been so impressed with the help to be found here, that I have been encouraged to join in :)

Currently I'm defining all the number ranges for the GP9 fleet. However Im struggling to find some of the most obvious of things like a Burlington Northern (the forest green style) roster. Several of the big names for the GP9s have come up, but several Im still struggling with.

Heres a reminder of the fleet we have going for release:
  • Burlington Northern
  • BNSF
  • Canadian National
  • Chicago North Western
  • Great Northern
  • Milwaukee Road
  • Denver & Rio Grande
  • Rock Island
  • Santa Fe
  • Southern
  • Southern Pacific
  • Union Pacific
  • Western Pacific
Any help anyone could provide roster wise would be brilliant.

All the best

So you are also a RS Team member? Why no RS in front of your name? :D

Good you join anyway. !!*ok*!!

I found this roster: http://www.trainpix.com/BN/ROSTER.HTM
BN had 126-281 in their fleet.

Well, the one source is of course Wikipedia:

I can only speak to my research on Southern Pacific, and I have found Wikipedia to be accurate against other web sources (which means that there still room for error, but its not obvious).

I really need to buy a book on SP motive power...

Hiya,

Thanks so much for your help. I am right on it.

Reason for not registering as RS Adam, is because I wasn't sure at the time what RSC policy was on continued forum interaction. Things have turned out for the good, so maybe I should get my username updated.

Regards

It's late, I've got the whiskey out and I feel as tho 3DS max and Railworks has beaten me today. Adam and I wrestled with a pesky transform issue on a few controls, tonight I will get to the bottom of it even if it takes me all night! (I think I have enough whiskey)
I also feel I should show the final 5 liveries, so watch out for some late night blog posts.

regards

Please don't drink too much. You may regret the paint job when you wake up:
