The Blueprint Editor is broken with the latest update

Unread postby dick8299 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 8:54 am

The Blueprint Editor will not export bin files. After the latest update there were posts on UKTrainSim and Railworks America about trouble with the Blueprint Editor. I have verified that the problem exists after the latest update.

The Blueprint Editor is not reading (converting) the igs file correctly. When I create a Blueprint for a simple scenery object:

and then select export; the texture and geometry files are created and exported but the bin file is not created and exported and the editor renames the igs file in the Blueprint and throws up this error message:

I have re-verified the game cache and the problem still exists. I have written emails to RS to make them aware of the problem, but the more of us that email them with the complaint, the more likely it is that they will do something about it.

If someone is not having a problem after the update, I would like to hear about it. If you are having the problem, please send an email to support@railsimulator.com. (also please take the time to reply to their automated reply and restate the problem)

I had the same problem. My solution was to copy the blueprint editor application from a backup copy of RW that had not been updated and paste it in your updated RW.
Mine is Working fine now.

You don't need to reply to the automated response, that is really only taking up your own time.
If there is an error then it will be addressed.

I have been using the live version and exporting many different types of scenery and rolling stock blueprints without error.
If you email support, zip up the source files for your object (just the one broken) and we will look into it.

Having the exact same problem - when you export, the IGS file gets renamed (in the XML) and you end up with a parameter error. I will send files to Support.

I forgot to mention - I can still successfully export projects that were created before the update. It seems to fail only on projects created since the update. Is this true for everyone out there? If so it may help Support pin down the issue.

RS has created an updated Blueprint Editor that they say they will export when they are sure it works. I tried it and it works on my computer - not sure how long it takes them to get around to uploading something to Steam for distribution.

!*hp*! I, too, am having problems, but of a different nature. When I enter the scenario editor, I cannot see any track marker posts. When I attempt to add a siding marker, I see two yellow posts but no red center post and the marker does not save. When I go to the 2d map in the editor, I cannot operate any of the switches. This all happens no matter which scenario I choose to edit. When I went to Steam and verified RailWorks2, I was notified that “31 files failed to validate and will be reacquired”. After this finished, the above problems were still present. Can anyone tell me if my problem is part of this topic's subject? Many thanks.

Still not working. Loaded up RailSimulator and had to hunt down the DevTools add-on on my old computer.

Any idea when this will be fixed?

RS has developed a fix, but they have apparently not yet released it through Steam.

Hi, It will happen soon, Our lead coder is looking to intergrate the changes into the live version.
When I know he has done it I will let you know.

Email support if you get the error and I will look to pass on the fixed exe in the mean time.

Emailed support and haven't got a reply and no update yet. Must not be many people making assets.
