Steam Crane Scenario

Unread postby billy » Wed May 20, 2015 9:15 am

Michael, can we do something like this on the VNHRR ???

To my understanding , there are two different cranes out there.
A 76T Diesel & 75T Steam.

In this video they are using the 75T Steam x2.

I remember looking at this product from IHH a number of times, but I never convinced myself to buy it. In the video, the entire operation of lining up the 2nd crane (1st one already in position), picking up and moving the derailed engine, and detaching the cranes takes almost 10 minutes: how often would I want to sit and watch this? Not often! I'm quite sure that the British engine being moved in the video was included and that no other engine could be used, so that rules out use on the VNHRR. Besides that, IHH is out of business, so this quite amazing (the first time) piece of equipment is no longer available. Or is it?

Thanks for the link, anyway.

I have both these cranes - they look very good. And I have the manual for the diesel version.

However, I have only once encountered a scenario using the diesel crane - as wallpaper, I believe - and I can't remember encountering the steam crane anywhere other than in the IHH demo scenario.

On the bright side, it would seem that RSC/DTG have purchased the rights to the whole Iron Horse stable. And a number of items have subsequently emerged. The value of the remaining investment will decline steadily as the ASAD TS2016/7/# replacement approaches. Perhaps you could enquire...

Kind regards,
