What PAYWARE products are you most likely to purchase?

Unread postby pikehkr » Sun Aug 01, 2010 2:20 pm

I thought I would ask what people are interested in. The reason everyone has this game seems so varied. Some people want to drive, some seem to want to just watch trains move around and others seem more into scenary and creating "worlds" and don't even play the game. Here is a little poll for you.

There are 2 polls, one for freeware and one for payware. I would like to see if there is a difference of opinon between the two.

Hmmm, 6 months ago I would have said locomotives, but, now that I have acquired several hundred Payware and reskinned models, I need more routes to put them on, hence, I've voted for routes. You also get scenery items on these anyway, which you can utilise on other layouts.....

I would vote the same on freeware also.

this was a tough one..it was a toss up between routes and locomotives but theres no payware scenery to speak of, so locomotives won.

SCENARIOS!!!!

I'll tell you why!

I've bought routes and locos and downloaded freeware until (apart from the odd small gap) I can pretty much not worry about any more of either again . However, scenarios are another matter. Creating a scenario for myself becomes so detailed, not to mention time-consuming, that there are no surprises - by the time I come to actually run the scenario I've created I already know it so well that it's hardly worth bothering to play. In that respect I can never get enough scenarios which have been created for me already.

Agree with you on that one. !!*ok*!! I have some really great looking routes and only free roam scenarios. !*hp*!

I agree as well, now that I have amassed such a quantity of routes, locomotives, rolling stock and assets that I can fill a 250Gb backup drive. So, to that end, Marleyman (both here and on the Steam Railworks Forum) has an excellent tutorial on how to create scenarios. Not sure if I have the time or patience to do it, either of you gents willing to try? **!!bow!!**

What is needed is a scenario generator.

I already plan to do scenario packs after I've finished the Feather River Canyon.

I'm not suprised that Routes seems to be the popular choice so far. With a route, you have some place to work with your current locomotives and rolling stock. My second choice would have been scenarios. I just started working with the scenario editor a couple of weeks ago and now have an appreciation for what you guys go through to put those together!
