So much hostility with the sounds XP. I wonder if you realize that they mostly rely on 3rd parties to supply a lot of the sounds from North American stock since it is very expensive to send someone over to do sound recording all the way from England.

Basically, the quality of the sounds they have to use are only as good as the people who are on our side of the pond that do 3rd party railfanning and recording for them.

No doubt we'll hear complaints about the model being more reliable than the real thing.

I hope that it is just a photo of a train misplaced on the NYNH route. That loco doesn't operate on third rail, and certainly not on the Metro-north section of the route.

Given that the whole effort is still very much WIP, it's reasonable to conclude that this was a convenient place to stage a screenshot. FWIW, I hope a substantial subset of the community doesn't get seriously confused when they find their HHP-8s, ACS-64s and the venerable old Meatballs running alongside third rail when between Harold Tower and Penn Station. The Wrong Island is definitely a key player on that part f the railroad.

Does the HHP-8 has electric power by third rail?

Thanks.
I asked because in this screenshot I do not see any catenary → https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

That's Fordham station in the Bronx: http://goo.gl/maps/KUhFg
No, the HHP-8 never runs that way as there is no catenary, but I'm assuming that they just found a photogenic spot for it. Frankly, with the tangle that is American catenary, the lack of it does actually help the pictures. Unlike the European catenary which is relatively unobtrusive. It's probably also a spot that was relatively finished scenery wise again no doubt due to the less complicated nature of the third rail.

I had to check this just to be sure.

Sure enough the Acela logo on the HHP-8 isn't there.

If need be once I can get a recording of a Hybrid K5 I will make a replacement horn and bell for it. Only though if the one that comes with it is inaccurate.

Just typed in on google search HHP-8 and seems that there are quite a few of these that have the acela logo on them. It may not be current paint scheme but it was at some point. Possibly they are modeling the HHP-8 with an example that has this logo on it.

Wow, two whole pages of mostly sniping at a WIP that's just been announced? Really? Amplify this 5 or 10 times with all the different sites and social media, it's a wonder that DTG even bothers thinking about releasing new "stuff".

I won't even get into the sheer amount of variables in sound recording and reproduction. As if every mic is the same, and every PC's sound card is the same, and every speaker system/ headphones, even all of our ears, are the same????? Yeah, OK, I heard one shrill note there. It should be "flat" not "alto". Really, come on, y'all. (OK, so I did kinda get into it.)

Did you even READ the logical rational behind using Fordham road as a display location? It seems you haven't, so I'll requote it here:

Remember folks, reading is PARAMOUNT.

I think what they really need is an in-cab recording of the Hybrid K5LA. From what I've been able to find online, all the recordings that can be used are exterior recordings.
