Can someone help an Idiot?

Unread postby nioux26 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:29 am

Ok, I am trying my hand at repainting. Not that I will be any good at it, but I can't get RW tools to convert correctly. I think I am following the direciions correctly. If I am not mistaken I read here in the forums somewhere that it is possible to do by using rw tools to convert texture file to dds. Work your magic in photoshop (in my case) then have rw tools convert the dds back to TgPcDx. Heres what happens.

It's in the TempDDS subdirectory of the RW_Tools folder.

I tend to use RSBintool to do the same thing, it'll import/export from anywhere.

When you push the button "Convert TgPcDx to dds", the program immediately creates a dds version of the file in this directory:

C:\Program Files\RW_Tools\TempDDS

The pop up about saving the edited dds file is so you know which parameters to use when saving your edited dds file.

After you have edited and resaved the dds file, use the button "Convert dds to TgPcDx" and it will open up the C:\Program Files\RW_Tools\TempDDS directory for you to select the dds file.

Couple more tips.

Don't close RWTools yet! When you "Convert dds to TgPcDx" it will remember the new TgPcDx file. So if you want to make edits and then reload them to RW, Select "Clean out Temp folder", then "Convert TgPcDx to dds", update the DDS file in the temp folder, and "Convert dds to TgPcDx".

Also. Once you have the repaint loaded _and working_ in RW, you do not need to clear out the blueprint cache again (unless you run into problems), if all you are changing is the TgPcDx. You will need to close out the game window, and start that up again, so the new version of the file will load up, but you will not need to restart the RW launcher.
