What's inside those sheds?

Unread postby OldProf » Tue Feb 06, 2018 6:25 pm

More often than not, the answer, unfortunately, is nothing. A number of routes include yard or industrial buildings with tracks running into or even all the way through them, including quite a few with fully modeled interiors. However, appropriate interior equipment and workers are nearly always missing.

Or am I wrong? If you know of a route or add-on pack that includes appropriate objects, please respond to this post.

Thanks!

Sorry mate, but apart from a few open saw mills on a couple of routes, building interiors are basically unmodeled. Too much extra work I guess...
The ones I would be happy to see a little extra details is the roundhouses, but I think that is probably just nit picking :D

I would agree with you about roundhouse interiors, since DTG's failure to allow engines to "legitimately" cross turntables seems to make them unreachable, but what I call stealth instructions can make turntables and transfer tables practicable, roundhouses and transfer table storage buildings can be visited. What do I mean by "stealth instructions"? Simply use a Trigger instruction to tell the driver what to do. Granted, this has limited use and will very likely render your scenario ineligible for Steam Workshop uploading, but it is, nonetheless, possible.

Not all buildings are empty. This one has a forklift driver sipping on his coffee while he waits for a switcher to bring him some boxcars to load with lumber.

The building is a modern factory from the RWA pack. I believe its called Factory_01 if memory serves.

Thanks, Boosted Fridge, I'm tempted to go snooping through building interiors with tracks running through them.

Looks like multiple buildings with empty interiors on the B&LE.
This is the Passenger Car Shed at Greenville............

In the meanwhile in Trainz, a shop:

All the stuff in that shop or roundhouse or whatever, can be done in TS.
It is just people don´t care about those building interiors.

You could always kit bash stuff inside of these areas to have interiors. I did this with my SGRY Revamp of the castle rock.

And all that was done in the space of this complex:

What I would worry about is the added asset loading causing crashes. There are a few routes now that are on the border of crashing now as they reach the 3.5GB limit. Adding detailed interiors would add more. BTW regarding the locomotive on the crane in the shop, wouldn't the trucks have fallen off?

Thanks for all the attention, folks. Quite a while ago, I made a scenario for one of TS's German routes that included driving out of an engine shed adjacent to a transfer table. The route included some items that I used to make the shed look worked-in, so I used some of them. What I'm looking and hoping for, I suppose, is a DTG Marketplace DLC that would include shed and roundhouse interior items, similar to their Platform Clutter Scenery Pack. I've searched both here and at UK-Trainsim without finding anything. While it;s heartening to see that Trainz has what I'm looking for, I don't have (and really don't want after having tried it) Trainz.

Ah, well --

I recently acquired the new Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue route. At the end of one of those rather ridiculous rescue scenarios, I glimpsed an illuminated workshop. Later, I returned to it in the scenario editor and took these screenshots:

That's what I mean by a well-equipped shop!
