We're pleased to announce our partnership with Jointed Rail to bring over high quality Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Scenery, and more to the Train Simulator series! This will comprise of payware and freeware products they've made to date, some of which will have that special Searchlight Simulations touch.

Our first joint project is the NS EMD SD40-2 pack! This pack will contain NS, Conrail, Maersk, Conrail Quality, and Conrail NS patched liveries. All with special quirks to each of them to make them stand out on their own. A formal release date is TBD, but new 16-645E3 sounds will be recorded September 10th, and hopefully edited over the course of a few days, to give you a timeline. I'll have a product preview stream this Sunday 9/2/18 around 1300CST showcasing the package and showing you all of the cool features it has, which include:

Aforementioned brand new 16-645E3 sounds.
Working Class Lights where applicable.
Fading Headlight and Ditchlights (latter where applicable).
High Resolution rain effects in cab, with dually operable wipers, and synced rain swipe animations.
Realistic Engine temperature simulation, complete with fan control systems that will cycle all 3 fans depending on cooling needs.
Realistic dynamic brake blower and radiator fan animation that carries rotational inertia.
Road specific horns and era specific bells depending on prototype.
High Resolution cab interior with remastered textures, and interior parts to make you "Feel The Detail" (lol)
Interactive cab radio and HOTD (where applicable, CR doesn't have HOTD, as was delivered. CRQ, NS, etc do).
Simulated Series-Parallel and inverse transition.
Smooth operating gauges to reflect the analog nature of each readout.

We also are hoping to have a realistic driving experience. Many locomotives claim to offer this, but this is one of few products out there that truly do. We've abandoned the core simulation for tractive and dynamic braking effort in order to provide the user with a sense of struggle based on actual calculations done in real time within the scripts. However, as a compromise for this, as braking is quite difficult to have in the game without being aggrivating, we have abandoned the use of an 'Advanced Braking Script.' As realistic as many try to be, the game itself will not allow for it to happen. This is not me speaking as Searchlight Simulations, as much as it is speaking from my POV as a locomotive engineer.

A huge thank you to Jointed Rail for coming to the table with us, we are quite excited to bring more content of theirs over!

Dash Two's without a case of gigantism, or HGH abuse have been needed for a long time. Thank you for filling this void for us all.

That these will have superior physics, texturing, and sounds is just the best bonus going.

My wallet awaits.

*!!thnx!!*

Welcome announcement.

The more good locomotives, the better choice for us.

This is potentially great news. The JR folks have made some very nice content for Trainz / TANE.

This is great!! You guys do some amazing quality work. A proper model to couple with your soundpacks is gonna be amazing. SD-40-2's are a workhorse on just about every railworks route, so these will be getting a ton of use.

As time goes on (Post release), will more roadnames become available?

Very much looking forward to this.

After is some variants of UP, plus CNW in a pack.

All schemes will be available for separate purchase should someone want to pick-and-choose.

To be transparent, I am recording another SD40-2 on the 10th, so within that week or so we should have the new sounds in and cleaned up.

Currently all of the above features are in and fully functional, and Kevin is currently working on debugging the script, including making MU work between units.
