MLW Audio/Searchlight Simulations EMD 16-645E Enhancement Pack: GP38-2

Unread postby BNSFdude » Tue Feb 20, 2018 7:17 pm

Some of our Facebook fans have known for a while, but we've been working on a GP38-2 Enhancement Pack per the community poll we took on there versus the SW1500. This EP meets or exceeds our current standards for both audio quality and features.

The pack will include the following:
Day/Night Automatic change between casting/non-casting headlights so you don't have light being spilled out during a clear sunny day.
Locomotive RPM Simulation that uses exact values taken from the prototype per specific situations such as throttle and reverser position. This includes a low idle upon centering of the reverser. Wheelslip and output regulator simulation that reduces tractive effort output and applies sand in order to regain traction. Locomotive isolation switch that allows the user to select which units in a consist are in RUN or ISOLATE, or WINTER ISOLATE if the prototype was equipped. Specific physics sets developed exclusively for the GP38-2 and dependent on prototype weights. Full engine temperature simulations that will affect the behaviour of the locomotive as it would under real conditions. Full custom light enhancement with brand new fading lights, operating user toggle-able marker lights on ARR, light dimming effect upon engine start, and flashing ditch lights where appropriate along with new Twin Stack GP38-2 style exhaust effects to provide the most authentic experience both visually and audibly.

The supported DLCs will be:
BN and BNSF H3 from BNSF Pack.
BNSF H1/BN White Face from Stevens Pass.
BNSF Ex-BN, H3 Low Ditchlight from The Racetrack.
UP Dirty and Clean from the Peninsula Corridor.
NS High Hood both skins.
Alaska Railroad.

The BN and BNSF GP38-2s have had their beacons removed as per typical arrangement when they were equipped with ditchlights. I wish we could have removed the ditchlights, but those unfortunately are not possible.
The H3 GP38-2 is equipped with a K3LA and E-Bell.
BN, and H1s equipped with S3Ks, steel bell, or bronze.
UP equipped with K3LA and steel bell.
NS with a new P3OC and steel bell, as well as flashing ditchlights on both ends.
ARR Equipped with P3OC, Graham White Electronic Bell, Horn Activated Oscitrol, Flashing Ditchlights on both ends, KIMM Hot Start, as well as front/rear markers.

Nice loco enhancement. I voted for the GP38 in your poll in Facebook. !*brav*! !*brav*! !*cheers*!

I have a comment and a question:
The supported GP-38 list mentioned above includes six DLC folders, but the list in the product description in your side only mentions two folders.

The two GP-38s from the Chicago Racetrack (Barnez) will not be included?

I forgot to add that to the list, despite me just finishing it.

I'm confused (not difficult) ..... the first post above seems to suggest that the EP isn't available yet, but as mentioned above, the Searchlight Simulations site lists it (but only lists two DLC).

Ken

Our web page is still WIP, either that or Kevin wasn't completely aware of the full list. The list given above is the accurate one.

It clearly says on the front page "coming soon" so everything you see on the website automatically is subject to change. Hope that helps.

I'm strangely happy about this.
This seems like a small detail, but always has been a major annoyance for me, like a pebble in a shoe.

Your list of new features is awesome. I'm surprised the lua engine in the game is able to cope with all this processing gracefully.

I wouldn't say graceful. Kevin is sure to have early pattern balding if we keep going at this rate.

I'll just leave this here.
