Lookng for Amtrak Cascades Re-texture by Lukrail

Unread postby ironcat60 » Wed Jun 13, 2018 11:18 am

Howdy folks,

I am running the Seattle Route and Stevens Pass Route. I have found a re-texture of the Sounder transit train but am still missing the Amtrak Cascades (freeware). I downloaded it from one site but the files are all messed up. The original site was Lukrailamerica. From what I could find the author is taking a break so who knows how long or ever if his site will be up and running again. So if you have it would you please share a copy with me.

Instead of PMing you, might as well make this public so other people can do it.
After a certain *@#$%& kept bullying and threatning Sibell and Lukrailamerica, they seem to have both decided it wasn't worth it and gone private.
As for getting the cascades set, go to web.archive.org and enter sibellstrainaddons.jimdo.com to view the archive and click a date.
Then, you can navigate to the downloads section and the mediafire links for the cascades and other downloads are still live. You need passenger view geopcdx from the new york new haven amfleets for them to work.
Hope that helps people. Too bad Luk left the community; he really had a lot of talent.
PM me with any problems you might have.

Uh...

"...you can navigate to the downloads section and the mediafire links for the cascades and other downloads are still live. ..."

Just tried each 'download' Mediafire link and none of them were alive for me... Anyone else successful?

You need to copy/paste the media fire link to a new browser page....it’ll work ‘cause it did for me....

Thank You PNWR1854!

That site had the Fix for the Cascades! Yes the fix had the correct files. Not like the nightmare when you open the Cascade Consist files in the original download. Those folders contain all sorts of crazy bin files that want to make it a scenery item and reference the cement hopper as a part of the model. Now the fix does reference the cement hopper also, but the bin files are corrected to link everything together properly. Plus you need the first download file for the NPCU and some other things.

And although not all the cars show up, like the Power Car, the main ones to make up a consist do show up. Plus the coaches have interior night lighting.

Also as I have noticed some Cascades Express Runs are forgoing the NPCU for another F59PHI I had to make a F59PHI no driver for the tail unit but that's no biggie. Now it may look a little awkward on the truck arrangement but I always slap another Baggage on the tail end with the "Fins" facing to the rear of direction of travel. That way the end of the consist looks even and flat faced.

So thank you once again. The pixel Amtrak riders now have the proper equipment to ride the Seattle rails.

Yes, I have the NPCU in game with no game crashing at this time.

You need to download the FP40 from UKTS Rail Simulator selection in the File Library Search. The File is UKTS_22217_F40PH_Amtrak. It installs to the same DRB_SimStuff folder, sub-folder Diesel with its own folder named FP40PH. Ensure you put the F40_mapper.bin from that download into the Kuju/RailSimulatorCore/InputMappers.

Also place the NPCU folder (sound files) from the first file download (Cascades V2.0 from Lukrail) into Kuju/RailsimultorUS/Audio/RailVehicles/Diesel.

Check the boxes on DRB_SimStuff then NA in the Properties Menu. It should appear in the Browser menu as Amtrak Cascades NPCU (90252). There is also a entry in the menu called F40PH P5 Amtk (90216)_MT. Ignore that one. It will not appear in game for various reasons.

I have test operated the NPCU and there is no engine sound. You cannot work the Controls with the mouse but the keyboard works fine. Air Gauges and Speedometer work. Looks like the Load Indicator does not. Only the Number Boards and gauges light at night. There is absolutely no other lights on the model, not even red tail lights for trail operations. Also no Cab Light. I made a No Driver type and it tests the same. Use the Cascades Engine F40PHengine_simp.bin if you want to do the same.

Now the author of the original F40PH model is the same guy who made the Freeware GP15 models. His models are three types. Exp is the expert driving controls, Simp is the simplified controls, and Trail is the driverless trailing unit. The NPCU appears to be a Simp Model as the brakes are simple to operate.

Now if you're thinking why not clone the Simp F40PH into a NPCU, change a few text lines and drop the current NPCU textures into that clones folder and voila, we have a NPCU with a headlight. Simple answer is no. The F40PH model the NPCU is based on has a horrific headlight texture that makes the original Rail Works headlights look awesome.

One thing I am pursuing is getting the Power Car to appear. That car was made to be the trail unit for a Cascade consist. It has the other set of "fins" and matches the last coaches shared bogie configuration. If I cannot get the little heathen to see the light then I am entertaining the idea of just dropping the texture on the Baggage car and use it turned around on the consist. I am currently using a turned around Baggage on the end of the consist to simulate the Power Car.

Here is the WSDOT (Wiz-Dot) site with information on what makes up a Cascades consist to help everyone build a realistic consist.

Hope this long winded dissertation helps!

Okay got you covered on that file. Check your PM messages.

Was successful in getting the Power Car to show up in game. But the couplers need adjusting and I want to see if I can get the one truck more centered in the wheel well before I send you the corrected files.
