Feather River Canyon Extension Final

Unread postby dleeboy » Fri Apr 08, 2016 2:56 pm

This is the Feather River Canyon Extension Final. To run this route you must first have bought DTGs Feather River Canyon Route.

What I did was I took from where DTG left off at Quincy California and extended the route to Hawley California.
Here is the list of Destinations on the route.

1. End of DTG FR.
2. Massack
3. Williams Loop
4. Spring Garden
5. Sloat
6. Two Rivers
7. Blairsden
8. Clio Trestle
9. Portola
10. Hawley

When I made the route I had a little problem matching the grades near the Williams Loop. So just before you get to the Williams Loop the Grades jump from 1 percent Grade to 2.5 for a small distance. And also just when you start to go up at the Williams Loop. After that everything on the Grades are fine.

I also ran into a wierd problem with the switches at the Spring Garden Siding. They are suppose to stay open for the main track but for some reason they force you to go into the siding. So if anyone puts freight cars on the siding at Spring Garden be aware of this. Just make sure you switch it to open for the main line. I tried to fix it but it always goes back to this problem.

Here are the links to the Route and the Freeware Assets that I used.

Here is a list of the Freeware assets.
EMDSD90MAC
GN Route Assets
GreatNortherner
John Lippai NS NewRiver Districks
RCAP
UKTS_FP

I want to thank all of the creators of the Freeware assets for there beautiful work.
I also used the two Kuju assets the core and north America. And in the assets folder dleeboy for the route markers
I supplied the route with three Free Roam Scenarios. One at the start of the route One at Williams Loop and One at Portola Yard.
The total length of the Feather River Canyon Route Extension is 39 Miles.

From Portola to Hawley I did not put in the detail I did on the rest of the route. I just added this section so if anyone wants to run a long train from Portola to the Start of the route they can.

Here are my specs of my computer ASUS Desktop Pc G10AC Intel core i7 4770 CPU 3.40 Ghz. 32 GB Ram. Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 192bit video card.
I run the route on Highest settings and it runs fine on my computer.

I hope everyone enjoys this Route extension I had fun making it.

Please let me know what you think about my Feather River Canyon Route Extension.

I need to let everyone know about the RCAP assets I am using. I went into the Utility program and only used the scenery items for RCAP. If you don't have RCAP I would say it would be better to go in at this site and download the full RCAP assets to cause less problems. I did what I did to make it easier for people and to make sure that they have what I used for the Feather River Canyon Extension. I did this for all of the freeware assets I am using.
You can get all of the assets I am using from RailWorks America in the file section. The UKTS_FP assets can be downloaded from this site.

http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks

You can get all of the freeware assets that I am using from my Dropbox Links also. But you can get them from here and the uktrainsim site if you would like.

The route will run without them but you will be missing things. All of the bridges are UKTS_FP assets so these are very important.

And why would you not want my route to look like the way I intended it to look like anyway.
So please download the freeware assets and if you already have them then there is no problem.

Here is a new scenario for my route. This is at the Portola Yard in the Summer. Just use the utility program to install this.

By the way I am a route creator that is my specialty. If people are encountering problems with quick drive and other scenarios this is not my thing. All I added were free roam scenarios. I don't understand all of these other things. I can make scenarios but why some things are showing wierd I don't know why. So I don't have any answers for those problems.

Hi everyone i would like input on my route extension. I know people are downloading it. I don't plan on changing anything what you see is what you get. But i would like to know what everyone thinks about it.

I just ran the full route from the Portola Yard to the Keddie Wye.
The scenery is great with lots of goodies like the trestle, the rivers with the boulders, the William Loop, etc.
I haven´t been able to find anything wrong in this "department". And for that you deserve a gold medal. !*brav*! !*brav*! !*brav*!

Here are the bad news:

I haven´t been able to see a single speed marker in the HUD and that includes the FRC route from the Extension start up to the Keddie.
Something is canceling the speed markers, both from the extension and from the short leg of the Original route. I
I told you yesterday in the pm I noted that with the snowy winter scenario. Today I did myself a season conversion of that scenario and reversed the consist with the U30C towards north. This is all I did and was the same with the missing HUD markers. I did not use the scenario you posted above.

After the Loop I have found a couple of sudden strong changes in the grade. I saw even 2.5- 3% for a short distance. It is the only problem I have found as to gradients beyond the maximum allowed 1% of that route.

The Quick Drive will probably be solved with the help of someone. I understand that a QD scenario with no rolling stock but with markers in the QD places will do the job, but I have never done it myself.

Thank You so much for your input. I read that problem on another route out there. Maybe someone that knows more than I do can helps us with this problem. Like I said I build routes that is my specialty. Some of the other technical things I am not good at. I am glad you are happy with most of the route thanks again.

The grade problems I did talk about. This was not avoidable with my talent. I have learned a lot more since I build that part of the route. And like you said it is just for a small distance anyway.

Yes, thanks for all your hard work. It looks very good.

I wonder if it might be possible to package all the third-party assets together and post as a workshop route extension on Steam Workshop. That way, more people would get to enjoy your work, and it still would only work if you have the original route.

Of course, you'd want permission to do so from the asset creators.

Many people only use the Workshop for additions to the sim nowadays. And if it were on Workshop, I suspect people would then make Workshop scenarios for it.

I don't remember what i used this for. I went in and took out alot of scenery items in the middle of building this route to trim it down. So i was only using what assets i had put into the scenery. I could not find this just ignore it it is not important. All of the RailNetwork is from the core DTG FEATHER RIVER ROUTE.

About the Workshop it would be nice to put it there. But as stated because i used third party assets it is not allowed.
I suppose if i went in and removed all of the third party assets then it might let me do that.

Let me think about that i could copy the route and remove all of the third party assets and see if t will let me do that.
I will give it a try and let everyone know what i found out. The bridges will look a little different but let me see.

One problem i can't seem to be able to find that brill asset. Maybe someone can help me with this that has more knowledge about the train program than I do.
