That isn't wrong, either. N1 shouldn't get you moving on a grade ever.

Surprised no one mentioned the Chessie Cabeese at Hydeman. It makes me wonder if the route could actually feature Chessie since we have the SD40-2 and GP38-2. All they would need to do is touch up the models.

Just had CTD in the "Fully Fueled" scenario. I was operating the lead locomotive out of Cumberland and I tried to use Camera 8 - CTD. I've decided to lower my global detail level to Low where I can get 40-50 FPS on my laptop vs. my normal 20-25 FPS, so I think I'll re-run the scenario tomorrow. Time to finish watching the hockey game, then bedtime, methinks...
Running the "Clear Cut" scenario reminds me of my part-time gig driving school buses for the town I live in. I also work in the bus yard fueling, moving buses, making minor repairs, mostly lights, and walking a LOT. I wear an activity tracker (Fitbit Charge 2 for anyone who's interested) and during a 5-hour shift I can walk between 4 and 6 miles in the bus yard. The yard is only 400 x 100 yards, so it's no rail yard. Keeps me in shape, that's fer sure...
!!*ok*!!
I like the immersion of TSW. I'm accustomed to first-person walkaround type games (Skyrim, Fallout 4, Portal/Portal 2) so the walking around doesn't bother me.
Definitely will keep playing this; it'll be interesting following the improvements that DTG will make. I've tried the Marleyman mods for the nVidia control panel with mixed results. I definitely do not get the improvements that others are seeing. Different systems react differently.
Having fun running trains!
Best, !*cheers*!

Is it possible to spawn your avatar on foot in a designated location without trains?

The world of Sand Patch looks nice, especially those small hamlets along the tracks. While exploring on foot you'll be able to experience the performance and the graphics power of the UE4 engine solo.
If any visible rolling stock drops fps considerably, you know what causes this, and who's job it is to address graphics performance of their rolling stock.

Having physical cars loaded in autoracks is probably the biggest waste of resources I've ever seen.

At least have an LOD or something triggered by the doors opening.

As long as the spot is by the track then absolutely. There are a number of spotting points and if you so wish you can walk/run along the track to your heart's content.

Anthony, trust me they lod nicely and they have very little if any hit on fps.

Of course everything we do has some kind of impact but you could delete all the cars and you would not notice one way or the other.

There are however a few other things on our radar...

Do they register on the stats at all ? Given what else is happening on screen I doubt they have any impact on frame times ?

I gotta say that I'm just impressed this grossly under rated laptop of mine is even able to handle running the game in any sense. Even with the graphic settings on low I'm surprised how well it looks compared to TS20XX.

I didn't rush out and buy TSW for several reasons. One big reason was the fear it wouldn't be more than a pretty slide show on my computer. But as luck would have it, I just won a copy in the screenshot contest. So I installed it and gave it a shot.

I did some of the tutorials and everything looked and ran great. I didn't tweak anything, just took whatever setup the program set for me. Then I did an end to end scenario and watched the scenery. Everything looked great. And everything ran great so I turned on the frame rate counter and discovered I was getting fps in the low 20s. No matter, it was smooth as glass and only twice during the scenario did I have a hesitation. One was a couple seconds but the rest of the run was excellent.

So when I start it up next I will shut the fps counter off and enjoy driving the train. Not much interested in the walking around stuff but there's plenty to do. For now. The future is unknown but I'm pleasantly surprised with what I have. Out of the box it runs faster and looks better than RW3 did in 2012.

I am seeing some improvement with update 2 on my underspec machine. FPS is up just a tad. I did notice that loading empty coal cars, a drop of FPS with each car as it was loaded. Seems like a good spot for DTG to focus on to buy some FPS back.

Wagons cause a huge frame rate drop. I was driving 4 locos with no wagons and was getting about 45fps, couple up to a train and it drops to 25fps.
