This really looks good.

Does anyone have them?

I don't have the old SD60 which I believe is unavailable now, but I do have the new NS SD60 pack along with the SD60I/M pack and they are pretty darn good! Ill post some shots up here in a few.

I have several of Eyein's packs and they are truly exceptional, and you can't find content of his quality for the price anywhere. I use his dash 8's and sd90's as daily runners. The sounds are top notch and the models and physics are as close as you can possibly get.

Does it have Slow Speed control? Or is that only cosmetic?

I'm not sure what slow speed control would be, but in notch 1, it barely gets rolling even on level ground so, maybe? !*roll-laugh*!

I think TSW has slow speed control in the AC44. The computer will let you set the speed. It says it in the video. It says slow speed but I wonder and think it is cosmetic only?

I'm gonna say it's purely cosmetic then.

These don't have SCC and I don't believe any of the US diesels in TS17 have it either but these are still top notch with all of the functionality they do have. Even TSW doesn't implement the function yet, it's just cosmetic at this point. With the small amount of content included with TSW it feels more like an early access beta than a full sim to me. Not to say it isn't a great simulator, but real free roam and a consist editor would do wonders for it. I could handle the lack of release content if you had more options with it, and feel that has been the feeling of a lot with that sim.

I'm sure they have (DTG) done their best with TSW. Honestly it seems to be the best on the market out there. Certainly it will have some problems but I think the competition has been routed.

Just tried this amazing SD-60I and was impressed!

Except for 2 things.

Got wheel slip at 15MPH on a sunny day at lunch time!!! As someone with a lot of experience that doesn't happen, especially to computerised locomotives with advanced computers mangaed the wheelslip-traction system.

So as usual I have had to alter in the .bin file

<DryFriction d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000A09999D93F" d:precision="string">63</DryFriction>
<WetFriction d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000000000D03F" d:precision="string">25</WetFriction>
<SnowFriction d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="00000000D7A3D03F" d:precision="string">26</SnowFriction>

Where 63 used to be .4 and the other two below .25 and .26. I just removed the zeroes and dots.

Wheelslip does happen on older locomotives like the SD40 OR you will get wheel slip in the right kind of 'moist' conditions. Where it isn't really raining, a light shower is enough to make the rails slippery. Just like bitumen roads, but they need a little more wet, but after a few days of dry.

Second was the brake handles. Red is the standard colour of the train brake yet it isn't coloured, nor is the engine brake. They are both coloured in white grey, like it hasn't received 'painting' or a decal.

The brake handles are not coloured.

This is what the brake handles look like on a desktop locomotive as sold by EYEIN12, General Motors product SD60I. Australian GM locomotives even have the same assembly controls as this.Image

Don't get me wrong, I am impressed. Like TSW great value for money. Thanks Ian, and anyone wanting to get this locomotive, the cab is nice and it feels real. But if you want to pull 130 loaded coal cars on the NS route with 4 SD-60s, make those mods above. I mean with the wheelslip. I hope Ian (or it could be my fault?) can fix the brake issues.

Great stuff!!!!

Now back in the drivers seat!

The SD60s did have wheelslip control systems, but they were pretty crude by today's standards. There is a lot of written feed back about how poorly they handled wet rails on grades from the engineers in BN's Pacific Division.
