Bye bye blur

I did this before but I only lowered the FXAA strength.. This time I completely turned it off.. For those who use SSAA this will disable FXAA from functioning along with it.

Whos it for: Those who use SSAA

Whos it not for: Those who use FXAA

Whats it do: Significant reduction in blur when using SSAA

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?0ef4klfntt9c5nj

This is SSAA 3X3 one with FXAA On the other with FXAA Off

Install: Unzip and BACKUP the original then copy and overwrite the file PostProcessFXAA.fx.o to Railworks\dev\shaders

To the untrained eye it may be hard to spot the difference so I made an animated GIF that shows it better.. Either way I guarantee you will instantly notice it in game.

Enjoy!

Pretty hard to decipher in that last pic. Should have made it bigger.

I haven't really used SSAA cuz of the performance hit. I also didn't really see a huge difference visually. If you have to pull out a magnifying glass to see much of a difference, it's usually not worth it. I hope someday when computers go to DX12 that maybe, just maybe this sim will at least use DX10.

Pictures don't really tell the whole story.. It's there for you to use or not use. If you don't find it worth it that's fine.. I'm putting it out there like I've always done with everything I actually finish.

Last time I did this it was downloaded over 300 times, when it was re-hosted (UKTS) when I gave my work away it was downloaded over another 300 times. So, yeah.. To some people it is worth it.

Well I'll give it a try. I downloaded the file and I'll give you my impressions at some point. I don't fault you for putting it up.

Like I said in another thread....more options are better then less options. *!!wink!!*

Can you show it with a subject in the foreground? The reason i ask is that it could be seen like human focal perception to have the subject in focus clear, but distant objects blurry.

Like I said.. Screen shots don't tell the whole story as you don't "experience" a screenshot as a whole.

Some areas to focus.. The tree top branches in the back left, ceramic insulators in the very upper left, the red pinstripe on the Amfleets on the right, the ballast, numberboards on the AEM-7.. individually it's not a OMG LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE.. Collectively, in game, experienced as a whole it is definitely noticed. Many people loved it, I love it.. I hate blurring..

Hey Claus. Nice shots of that Russian TEM. I've got to stick that in some other route. Ever since they upgraded Forest Land, I'm stuck with Russian again and can't run it. Beautiful loco.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread....
