Just Trains A4 Pacific Pack derailments

Unread postby Railfan587 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:42 pm

When I bought Railworks 3 I also bought the Just Trains A4 Pacific Pack. So I saved my scenario then I came back and started it. The next thing I saw was the Mallard flipping. The A4s ALWAYS derail if start a saved scenario over 30 mph. Most of the the scenarios are long nonstop runs. So what should I do?

Most of the steam engines I have run will derail when returning from a save and exit the only way I have found to beat this is to bring the train to a standstill and then save and exit.

My experience is the same as Bill's and I would also recommend a brief stop to save the game. This particular bug would seem to be confined to locomotives with unpowered leading wheels - such as steam locos of most descriptions and also the GG1 electric loco.

Railworks only seems to save the locations of locomotives and the positions of the controls. It doesn't save things like the stretch/compression of the slack in the train, the load of engine, brake pipe/cylinder pressures, etc.

I first noticed this when I saved a game where I was going down a hill under dynamic braking. When I loaded it back up, I had to wait 10 seconds for the dynamic brakes to kick in again. By that time I was several mph over the speed limit. When the dynamic brakes kicked in, they went from 0 - full braking instantly, and the train ended up 2 miles in the air.

This has been mentioned on every railworks forums, and I have emailed their support about it, but I doubt it will ever be fixed.

Right now the only solution, as mentioned, is to stop the train before exiting.

The problem is that I can't stop. Steam trains don't accelerate quickly. If I stopped, the train would be late.

Save during scheduled stops.

The problem. The JT Not all that it Seems scenario. It's a nonstop run from York to Newcastle.
