Where do I put this in and how? I'm a noob to translucent textures. Also I would like to make something part translucent and part texture, is their any way to do this?
Since SMM is using v8 for 3DC, and you and I are on 9.1 (or 9.2) you will find that some of the controls are moved around just a bit. I was able to find everything pretty easily though.
Actually I have v8 since JP told me to not upgrade, the tutorial was quite useful, except I don't see where it mentions translucent/transparent textures, step 35 just shows how to make them glow (if i read it right)
So instead of importing a 256x512 BMP immage to crafter I should import a TGA image for transparency and other fx? Also does the TGA have to be 256x512 pixels, same as the BMP?
No. You can use images that are 2048 x 2048 (mind you that does take up memory). The only rule is that they must be divisible by 8. I use a dummy alpha which is 64x64 and most of my child textures are 256x256. Take a look at the art of railworks' and you will find some meet advice from RWDerek.
Is this the same for a BMP image? Also how do I add alpha? I'm rely trying to improve my textures and trying to get the best out of 3dc, if you have any recommendations I would be happy to take notes
