Nathan M3 Horn Request?

Unread postby donpanek » Mon Jul 16, 2012 3:07 pm

Hey fellow railfans and TS2012 users. I got a nice request for ya. Can somebody supply a sound files for the classic Nathan M3 Horn? This is my all time favorite horn.

Here's a recording of the horn so you all know what it sounds like.

The reason I love that horn is because after a few years I was born (1992), I was introduced to the amazing world of railroading. My dad has family who lives in Griffith, IN and I used to watch the Grand Trunk Western go through there in the railroads glory days. In case you don't know about Griffith, IN, it was a town the was built upon the many railroads that went through town. My dad and uncle would tell my stories of watch the Erie Lakawanna, Chessie System, New York Central, B&O and amtrak along with the Elgin Joliet & Eastern. The GTW line is now owned by CN, but Griffith, IN does still get quite a few GTW power through there. So guys, if someone could create a file with the Nathan M3 horn, it would make my TS2012 experience all the more worth while. Thanks!

I agree,as modeling the DT&I,Nathan M3's were a signature sound. Getting a hold of M3 files is not so hard. Converting to RW is something I never attempted.

What locomotive would you like me to put it on?

The GP40, the default SD40 and Justin Cornell's GP-38. Those are the same locomotives the GTW had as their main roster back in the 80's and 90's.

As excited as I am over getting these files once they are finished, I really have no clue how to download them. When it comes to knowledge of computers, you might say I have the brain of a caveman. So if someone could explain to me IN GREAT DETAIL how to download and replace the files, it would be much appreciated.

By the way, since I started this topic, here's another question I have. Does anybody know what the tuning of the Nathan M3 horn is? I one day plan on making one and I wanna make sure I get that classic ear-splitting GTW sound.
