My degree in English has whispering in my ear as I read these posts: "'New Technologies' does not necessarily mean fixing (perceived or imagined) old problems, many of which arise more from users' computer systems than from RW itself". By now, the whisper is rising to a shout. On my own advice, I'm going to wait and see (and, yes, hope for the best, but without straining my wishbone).

One thing I would like to see is the signal indication (F3) for the direction you are traveling, not just from the front of the locomotive.

In any case, it's great to see the RSC is making proactive steps to improve their product. Looking forward to the news.

Nothing to do with new technologies but, I'd love to see the Driver Guide changed to lose the box and background and just have the data displayed as just text like the HUD.

!!*ok*!!

My thoughts every time I see it. The current one is way too intrusive in the FOV IMHO. No big deal to me, but it would be a nice tweak to improve the driving experience.

As far as I can tell, the only thing I really need from this game as an improvment is true AI interaction as what MSTS has, OR multiplayer that allows for different roles, such as dispatcher or engineer. Can't really complain about too much else.

Driver Guide is the F3 when F4 is off? I never use F3 cuz it shows the next signal's aspect which is totally unrealistic and made me loose the surprising factor (is the signal red, yellow or green?!), I rather drive following the usual signals rules (clear, approach, approach medium, stop) and if the signalling indicates that next signal is (or may be) red, than I approach it at 10-15mph ready to safely stop, if the case. *!!wink!!*

The part I like on the F3 is the Current Speed Limit, Next Speed Limit, Next destination and distance to next destination. I'd prefer those items as text in the hud.

Current Speed LImit, Next Destination and Distance to Next Destination are in the say modern F4 (created to replace the old F3). Next speed limit is good indeed when you have a lower speed limit ahead, but it is usually announced (not always, route dependent) in the speed boards along the track. If you drive with keyboard or have RailDriver you might try the F4 HUD mod by Marleyman, it has no levers therefore a large transparent background which lets you see more of the gauges and instruments.

That looks better than the Drivers Guide.

I like knowing the next speed limit because they are not always posted and at other times I have problems reading the numbers as I zoom by. Old Guy syndrome.

Not Impressed !*not-ok*!

NEW TECHNOLOGY COMING SOON! RailSimulator.com continues to drive train simulation forward by continually developing and improving our technology. This is a preview of joypad driving, a new way to select and drive trains in comfort with a standard Windows-compatible game controller. Joy paddriving offers precise control in the palm of your hand: operate throttle, reverser, brake and all driving controls: switch and pan camera views: view and navigate the in-game map: uncouple wagons, pick up passengers, change HUD settings and more. Joypad driving moves the action to your living room, bedroom, basement or wherever you want to drive -- no keyboard or mouse required. Keep watching for the next RailSimulator.com technology update.

Ok, Papa was a few seconds faster than me. :D

Ok, I am also not impressed by the gamepad option (do not need it), but the new task map looks like a reasonable and good addition.
Of course, there will be more videos in the next weeks with more new features.

Not too hot on the joypad driving, but the new Task Map at the end of the video looks good so far.

Joypad driving. Yawn. If your're trying to find the "simulation" in Train Simulator, you're getting colder. Looks to me like this might be leading up to compatibility with Windows 8 and to a future port-to-game console. Yes, this is conjecture on my part.

The task map is a nice addition though.

I was thinking along the same lines. I don't own a Xbox, and I don't plan to.
